Since its debut in June 2024, Big Wine Freaks has shaken up Singapore’s culinary scene with a stylish fusion of wine bar, upscale dining, and all-out party spot. Tucked into a charming colonial building in Chinatown, this Champagne-forward wine bar offers a wildly indulgent menu built around raw seafood, open-fire grilled mains, and vibrant veggie dishes — all served with over 500 wine labels and a whole lot of flair.
The menu, led by Head Chef Lim Wei Kiat (formerly of Michelin-starred Art di Daniele Sperindio and Mirazur’s Mandala Club residency), reflects a refined yet playful approach to ingredient-driven cuisine. Guided by Brand Chef Marat Kalaidzhian, Big Wine Freaks draws inspiration from Europe’s best wine bars, San Sebastián’s punchy plates, and the precision of Japanese omakase.
Expect a raw seafood bar run by Japanese Chef Keniyoshi Ryohei, featuring standout offerings like the Sashimi Set in Big Wine Freaks Style ($158) and luxe French Oysters ($9 each). Signature “per piece” bites pack a punch — try the Gougères ($16) with lardo and truffle, spicy Uni Toast ($18) with tamari and jalapeño, and the decadent Pirozhki ($16) topped with sour cream and caviar.
Mains from the Josper Basque Grill include succulent Octopus with romesco and confit potatoes ($58), a tender Beef Short Rib ($46), and the share-worthy Lamb Shoulder ($138). Even the vegetables shine, like the Grilled Cabbage with black truffle and Beurre Blanc ($28) and Japanese Tomatoes with strawberry ($29).
Wine is the soul of Big Wine Freaks. Curated by Advanced Sommelier Goh Kher Meng — whose resume includes Odette and Le Bon Funk — the wine list features over 2,000 bottles, including natural and sustainable picks from star producers like Frederic Savart, Koji et Jae Hwa, and Domaine des Miroirs. More than 40 wines are offered by the glass, with selections constantly rotating and served in high-end glassware from Zalto, Sydonios, and Kimura.
Designed by Florence-based architects Sabrina Bignami and Alessandro Capellaro, the space is an artful mix of old-world charm and modern flair. Liquid metal tables, crafted by Italian artisans, flow through the open-concept kitchen and dining room. Luxe finishes — like Dedar Milano upholstery, vintage-inspired lighting, and custom wall art — elevate the dining vibe, while bold carpeting and pink lighting add a theatrical twist.
The atmosphere is made for mingling — whether you’re here for wine exploration, stylish dinners, or after-hours beats. Music Director Candice Teo sets the sonic mood with sensual grooves from afrobeat to organic house. You can even take the vibe home with mixes from Big Wine Freaks Records on SoundCloud.
