[Review] Baia’s $38++ Set Lunch Offers A Chic Rooftop Italian Affair with Marina Bay Views

Perched atop Esplanade Mall and operated by the reputed ilLido Group, Baia is a rooftop lounge that offers stunning views of Marina Bay, coupled with Italian fine dining and sunset cocktails.

They recently introduced a weekly rotating 3-course set menu priced at just $38++ (Monday to Friday), offering a taste of Italian fine dining with great views, yet without a hefty price tag.

We were invited for the lunch tasting and sampled the seasonal set lunch for two, starting with a refreshing Rucola Salad drizzled with aged balsamic and shaved Parmigiano, together with a velvety Wild Mushroom Soup enriched with truffle Pecorino fonduta.

Mains included Hand-rolled Trofle Pasta (a short, twisted pasta variety originating from the Liguria region of Italy) in a creamy Cacio e Pepe sauce with chorizo crumble, and a Baked French Chicken Leg. Crispy on the outside, succulent within, and served with silky potato mousseline, the latter was our favourite for the day.

The meal concluded with two servings of rich Hazelnut Mousse layered with dark chocolate and Chantilly cream.

While portions were modest (perfect for avoiding the post-lunch slump), the execution was impeccable, particularly the chicken dish, which delivered remarkable value for the price.

To complement the meal, Baia’s 0% proof cocktails ($16 each) shone with creative blends like As Good As Corona (Seedlip Grove 42, yuzu, and sage) and Not Sunken City (pickled green tomato and black olives) are refreshing options for those skipping alcohol to go back to work after lunch.

Beyond the set menu, Baia offers an à la carte lineup featuring dishes like Smoked Wagyu Beef Tartare ($26) and Wagyu Double Cheese Burger ($30), as well as a Gourmet Set Lunch ($78 for four) with luxe additions like Jumbo Crab Salad and Artisanal Spaghetti with tiger prawns.
