Chinatown Launches First-Ever Pasar Charity to Celebrate Community Giving This May

This May, Chinatown is set to host a heartwarming new event that blends tradition with purpose. From 23 to 25 May, Pasar Charity 2025 will transform Smith Street into a bustling marketplace with a mission—inviting Singaporeans and visitors to come together in support of local charities and community causes.

Organised by the Chinatown Business Association, this inaugural charity street market reimagines the classic pasar as a space where generosity meets action. Grounded in the belief that “Singaporeans have big hearts,” the event offers a meaningful way to give back—whether you’re decluttering for a cause or browsing for treasures that make a difference.

Shop with Purpose, Give with Heart

Pasar Charity will feature an array of stalls run by local charities, social enterprises, and everyday citizens, each offering pre-loved items, upcycled goods, and handcrafted wares. Every purchase directly supports a cause, turning each transaction into a meaningful act of community care.

The lineup of participating charities reflects Singapore’s vibrant and diverse social fabric, including:

  • Here With You – Supporting migrant workers through emotional aid, legal help, and essential services.
  • Public Free Clinic – Delivering affordable Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) care to all.
  • Presbyterian Community Services – Offering counselling, youth and eldercare, disability support, and family services.
  • Jamiyah Singapore – Providing shelter, care, and holistic rehabilitation for the elderly and the destitute.
  • Yong-En Care Centre – Supporting low-income families and seniors with financial aid, counselling, and daycare services.
  • Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution – Offering quality TCM treatments, with subsidies for those in need.

These organisations will not only raise funds, but also share their missions in an open and interactive way, deepening public understanding of the social challenges they work to address.

A New Chapter in Chinatown’s Community Spirit

Pasar Charity 2025 marks a fresh chapter in the Chinatown Business Association’s efforts to foster community connection and social impact through placemaking. With strong support from both the public and participating organisations, this event is poised to become a signature moment in Singapore’s community calendar.
