As a long-time K-drama fan, I’ve seen many stars grace our shores. But Yoo Yeon Seok’s first-ever Singapore fanmeeting—The Secret Code: Y on 27 March 2025—hit different.
Yes, we expected charm, but we got a deeply personal, soulful, and entertaining night filled with live music, unscripted moments, and genuine fan connection.
Held at The Theatre at Mediacorp, the evening opened with a bang. Yoo Yeon Seok’s voice filled the room from the first song, and I was blown away. His live vocals? Absolutely stunning.
He sang a powerful lineup of songs, including fan favourites and Western hits—but what stood out most to me was “Say My Name,” the OST from his latest drama, When The Phone Rings. Hearing it live gave the track a new kind of emotional weight.

And more from his acoustic set and musical works
Another surprise? Yoo Yeon Seok was joined onstage by the music director from one of his musicals, Hedwig. Together, they delivered a performance that felt raw, passionate, and theatrical — almost like a mini musical embedded in the fanmeeting.
It added depth and artistry to the night; honestly, it’s rare to see that kind of creative crossover at a fan event.
Beyond the music, there were fun, light-hearted segments, too. One of my favourite parts was the game session inspired by his Korean variety show “Wherever Whenever.”
He played interactive challenges with fans, laughed at his mistakes, and kept the energy high. This added a touch of spontaneity, making the entire fan meet feel even more real and unscripted.
The night also featured plenty of interviews with emcee April, who drew out personal stories from Yoo Yeon Seok. They discussed his drama roles, music journey, and even plans — offering fans a rare glimpse into the man behind the screen.
The casual banter between them made these segments fun, light-hearted, and intimate — a breather between the emotional highs.
Fan perks were a huge hit too. While I wasn’t among the lucky few who scored signed merch or hi-touch access, just being part of that crowd was enough. The joy, energy, and sense of community were priceless.
Those who did win backstage moments said Yoo Yeon Seok was warm, down-to-earth, and sincerely grateful to be in Singapore.
If I had to sum it up? It wasn’t just a fan meeting. It was a heartfelt celebration of art, connection, and sincerity. Yoo Yeon Seok delivered everything: voice, presence, warmth, and vulnerability.
He didn’t just perform — he made us feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
And if you ask me? Singapore’s now officially part of The Secret Code: Y.
Yoo Yeon Seok, please come back soon. We’ll be waiting.
