The National Library Board (NLB) is reigniting imaginations with its Community TakeOver initiative, partnering with three homegrown furniture brands—FortyTwo, Glamping Society, and Scanteak—to transform spaces in three libraries into immersive storytelling experiences.
This unique collaboration brings creativity and local craftsmanship to the heart of Singapore’s libraries, showcasing innovative ways for families to bond over stories.
Each library will feature themed storytelling areas, fitted with cozy, locally designed furniture to bring tales of science fiction, fairy tales, and mystery to life. These spaces aim to spark imagination and provide families with a meaningful way to connect through reading.
From today, visitors can explore these magical setups, which align with the March school holidays:
The curated spaces will be available for three months at Bishan Public Library and for six months at Punggol Regional Library and Jurong Regional Library.
This initiative is part of NLB’s LAB25 (Libraries and Archives Blueprint 2025), launched in 2021. LAB25 focuses on reimagining libraries through innovation, collaboration, and community engagement. The first edition of Community TakeOver in July 2024 saw partners like FortyTwo transform spaces in Serangoon Public Library, Jurong West Public Library, and Central Public Library.
