Opening its doors in April 2025, the Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree seeks to offer a luxurious yet eco-conscious retreat in the heart of Mandai Wildlife Reserve. The resort spans 4.6 hectares and provides direct access to Singapore’s iconic wildlife attractions, including the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, and Bird Paradise.
We were invited to take a first look at the resort yesterday morning. If you ever dreamt of waking up to the sounds of nature while still enjoying five-star amenities, this is it.
Unlike traditional luxury resorts, the Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree is designed to be part of its surroundings rather than stand apart from them. Its architecture is rooted in biophilic design, seamlessly integrating into the lush greenery of Mandai.
The resort features 338 rooms and suites, with each offering breathtaking views of the rainforest or the tranquil Upper Seletar Reservoir.
Facilities include a gym, a pool, a rooftop garden and Banyan Tree’s signature spa services.
For those looking for a more immersive experience, the resort offers 24 exclusive treehouses.
Suspended above the ground and equipped with private patios, these treehouses allow guests to experience the rainforest canopy up close, without sacrificing comfort. Each comes with a king-size bed, panoramic views, and a minimalist yet warm design that complements the natural surroundings.
There is also a beautiful, exclusive private pool, available only to those staying on the private patios. It is inspired by the intricate design of a bird’s nest and overlooks the reservoir, making it a prime spot for relaxation and insta-worthy pictures.
The Mandai Rainforest Resort prides itself as a model for sustainable tourism. From its energy-efficient design to its use of locally sourced materials, the resort aligns with Banyan Tree’s commitment to conservation and responsible hospitality.
Each room features an interactive display that monitors power consumption and provides alerts when usage surpasses recommended levels. Additionally, rainwater is collected and reused for the flushing system in every room.
The resort’s rooms can be naturally cooled with windows that can be fully opened. Alternatively, the indoor temperature is carefully maintained to reflect the refreshing, cool climate of tropical rainforests.
Beyond aesthetics, the resort places a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility. Being situated within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve means that the resort must adhere to strict sustainability practices to ensure minimal disruption to the ecosystem.
Reservations for Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree are now open, with prices starting from ~S$300++ per night for a twin room and from ~$1,000 per night for the tree house, with stays available from April 2, 2025.
