Aspiring writers, take note—the Golden Point Award (GPA) is back for its 17th edition, seeking to unearth Singapore’s finest emerging literary talents. Organized by Arts House Limited (AHL), the nation’s premier creative writing competition invites entries in Short Story and Poetry across Singapore’s four official languages—English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil—as well as the Translation: Short Story (English) category, introduced in the last edition to celebrate literary translation and broaden accessibility to Singapore’s multilingual literary landscape.
First established by the National Arts Council (NAC) in 1993, GPA has been a launchpad for many of Singapore’s most celebrated writers. Since AHL took the helm in 2021, the competition has continued to nurture fresh voices, providing an avenue for literary innovation. This year, AHL partners once again with the Singapore Book Council (SBC), leveraging SBC’s expertise in multilingual programming, literary awards management, and extensive writer networks to amplify GPA’s impact on the local literary scene.
Beyond the honor of recognition, this year’s winners will receive cash prizes of up to $6,000, trophies, and certificates. Additionally, all top winners will gain access to an exclusive four-month mentorship programme, offering personalized guidance to refine their craft and navigate the literary world.
If you’ve got a story to tell or a poem to share, this is your chance to shine on Singapore’s literary stage. Submit your entry and let your words take flight.
