Light to Night Singapore 2025: A Vibrant Celebration of Identities and Art in the Civic District

Marking a significant milestone for National Gallery Singapore’s 10th anniversary and SG60, Light to Night Singapore 2025 returns as the marquee event of Singapore Art Week. Taking place from 17 January to 6 February 2025, this year’s festival delves into the theme “Do You See Me?”, exploring diverse identities and perspectives across Singapore’s communities.

Spanning three dynamic weeks, the Civic District will transform into a glowing hub of creativity with over 70 captivating artworks and programmes, including luminous projection mappings, large-scale installations, and immersive public activities. From art lovers to families, this festival invites everyone to connect and celebrate the rich tapestry of Singapore’s cultural heritage.

This year’s festival pays tribute to pioneering local artists while spotlighting lesser-seen communities.

  • Han Sai Por presents Travelling Through the Tropical Rainforest, a Padang centrepiece featuring six striking inflatable sculptures inspired by tropical palms. These larger-than-life forms comment on the delicate balance between nature and urbanization.
  • Art Skins on Monuments returns with projection mappings on iconic cultural landmarks, including National Gallery Singapore, Asian Civilisations Museum, and Victoria Theatre. This year’s lineup includes works by Cultural Medallion recipients Chng Seok Tin, Goh Beng Kwan, and Jaafar Latiff, alongside emerging talents like Song-Ming Ang and TraseOne.

Interactive installations bring fresh perspectives to festival-goers:

  • Now You See Us? by TraseOne explores Singapore’s graffiti scene, while the International Migrants Day Photo Contest showcase celebrates the talents of the local migrant community.
  • Return to Paradise (Play) by Beverley Ng evokes nostalgia for the 2000s with depictions of arcades, pasar malams, and theme parks.
