Resorts World Sentosa Breaks Record with Singapore’s Longest Stollen, Spreading Festive Cheer to Communities

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has added a sweet new milestone to Singapore’s festive celebrations, crafting the nation’s longest Dresden Stollen and earning a spot in the Singapore Book of Records. Weighing 500kg and stretching an impressive 93.1 metres, this iconic Christmas bread took centre stage at RWS’ A Big, Big World of Excitement Christmas marketplace, delighting visitors and spreading the warmth of the season.

The Tradition Behind the Stollen

Stollen, a beloved festive delicacy, dates back to the 14th century when it began as a simple Advent bread made from flour, yeast, and water. Today, it’s celebrated as a rich, sweet bread filled with fruits, nuts, and spices—symbolizing the unity and generosity that define the Christmas season.

A Culinary Marvel

Leading the record-breaking effort was RWS’ Bakery Sous Chef Jude Anthony Danker, who learned the traditional recipe from a German baker and has spent over 20 years perfecting it. Crafting the massive stollen was no small feat. Over three months, Chef Jude and his team worked tirelessly to ensure every detail—from ingredient selection to dough preparation—was flawless. Specially designed trays and a meticulous baking process ensured the stollen’s uniform texture and taste.

The result? A masterpiece that not only demonstrated exceptional culinary craftsmanship but also showcased RWS’ dedication to preserving traditions and creating festive magic.

Spreading Joy to Communities in Need

Embodying the spirit of Christmas giving, RWS partnered with Chinatown Active Ageing Centre (CAAC) and Food from the Heart (FFTH) to share the stollen with those in need. Fifty seniors from CAAC were invited to witness the record-breaking event and enjoy the festive marketplace with RWS befrienders.

The stollen was also distributed through FFTH’s Bread Run programme, which bridges food surplus from retailers with community needs. By working with volunteers and community partners, this initiative allowed RWS to “break bread” and bring joy to underserved communities, turning the stollen into a symbol of connection and care.

RWS Cares: Beyond the Festive Season

This initiative is part of RWS’ broader RWS Cares programme, which continues to support communities year-round. Recent efforts include creating safe and healthy living environments for seniors at Jalan Kukoh’s CAAC and the RWS Eat Well @ Community Shop initiative, which has committed $300,000 to supply fresh vegetables and eggs to FFTH’s community minimarts over three years.
