Aliwal Urban Arts Festival 2025: Rev Up for an Electrifying Celebration of Street Culture

Aliwal Urban Arts Festival (AUAF) returns on 25 January 2025 at the Aliwal Arts Centre (AAC). This annual event, organized by Arts House Limited during the final weekend of Singapore Art Week 2025, is set to bring a high-octane celebration of street culture, showcasing everything from visual art and graffiti to skateboarding and live performances.

Customisation Meets Art in TAILORED: Bore & Stroke

This year, AUAF introduces TAILORED: Bore & Stroke, an exciting new exhibition that dives into the world of automotive customization and its impact on art, fashion, and urban culture. Curated by The Block A Collective, the exhibition will explore personal expression through the works of renowned artists and creatives like TraseOne, Metamo Industries, and Mad Rat Inc. Visitors can also get hands-on with airbrushing and poster design workshops, led by some of the exhibition’s featured artists.

Experience Live Art and Creative Studios

The Aliwal Arts Centre will open its doors to its resident artistic groups, offering an exclusive peek into their creative processes. Avant Theatre and Language will host theatre workshops, while weird aftertaste will bring you a unique concert experience. The New Opera Theatre, in collaboration with RSCLS, will deliver a one-of-a-kind performance that blends genres and pushes boundaries.

As a highlight of the festival, graffiti artists from across the region will be transforming the centre’s walls in real-time, showcasing their live art on the AAC’s side and back walls. Want to leave your own mark? RSCLS’s graffiti try-outs offer visitors the chance to spray paint the alley walls and express their creativity. Plus, for just $5 per person, sign up for D’TOUR by RSCLS, an alternative walking tour that will open your eyes to the hidden gems of Kampong Gelam.

Skateboarding, Art Market, and More

The festival will also take over the Aliwal Carpark, where beginner-friendly skateboarding sessions will get participants rolling, with safety gear and skateboards provided. SkateSG will host a skateboarding competition featuring exciting obstacles designed by the community.

Meanwhile, the Creators Marketplace by Suave Cartel Media will feature 15-20 curated booths offering art, fashion, and lifestyle items, along with exciting raffle draws where you could win amazing prizes.

End the Festival with Music and Dance

Finish off the festival with an unforgettable vibe as Red Kite Music curates live DJ sets, setting the stage for high-energy music and dance performances. Dance fans can also catch performances curated by Darren Toh (“dt”), one of Singapore’s most dynamic dancers.

Gather your friends, put on your dancing shoes, and head to Aliwal Urban Arts Festival 2025 for a day filled with creativity, music, and art. For more updates, visit Arts House Limited or follow Aliwal Arts Centre on Facebook and Instagram.
