Affordable Art Fair Singapore Returns This Weekend for Its 15th Anniversary with an Extensive Line-Up of Programmes

Celebrating its 15th anniversary in Singapore and its 25th year globally, the Affordable Art Fair is now on this weekend from 7–10 November 2024 at the F1 Pit Building.

The fair showcases a diverse range of art from 83 local and international galleries, presenting over 700 artists, with 23% of the galleries participating for the first time and 91 Singapore-based artists represented.

This year’s edition features a variety of engaging events and unique art installations, from immersive experiences to hands-on workshops, catering to art enthusiasts of all ages.

Programme Highlights

Arty-Licious Evening
The fair hosted the Arty-Licious Evening on Friday, 8 November, from 6 pm to 10 pm, an extended event supporting the Caregiving Welfare Association. For every ticket sold, $2 was donated to the charity. Visitors get to enjoy exclusive activities such as the Art Therapy Talk and Lens for Change, a photo studio by renowned photographer Juliana Tan, where a donation of $80 or more provides participants with a portrait.

The evening also offered a printmaking experience through the Original Handmade Print Stamp Rally by Talking Textiles, where participants created layered artwork with a limited 1,500 prints available.

Interactive Installations and Exhibitions

The fair showcases various installations and interactive exhibits, including:

Deborah McKellar’s pop-up home-studio where visitors get to learn her creation process and inspirations
  • Deborah McKellar’s Home-Studio: A recreation of the artist’s studio where visitors can observe ongoing printmaking demonstrations.
Spirit of the Apple by Li Shudan
  • Spirit of the Apple by Li Shudan: A unique installation of hand-carved apple sculptures, with $10 from each purchase going to charity.
  • Moving Urban Landscape by Yerin Shin: A 3D pen-drawn installation that captures the essence of urban life.
  • Cooking with Wool by Andrea Love: A whimsical stop-motion series set in miniature woolen kitchens.

Workshops and Special Projects
Visitors also get to participate in a range of workshops and demonstrations hosted by the Objectifs Centre for Photography and Film, covering topics like photo print techniques and framing.

Younger visitors get to explore the Children’s Art Studio by Art Wonderland and Republic Polytechnic, featuring the interactive “10,000 Leagues Below Singapore: Unveiling Hidden Treasures” workshop, where children can create sea-inspired sculptures using recycled materials.

Special Exhibitions
The #SPOTLIGHT anniversary exhibition will celebrate 20 galleries that have contributed to the fair’s growth, each presenting a significant artwork reflecting their artistic journey. Additionally, the Art Galleries Association Singapore is hosting a showcase highlighting prominent Singapore galleries and promoting ethical gallery practices.

Food and Beverage Offerings
The Gastro Park returns with a selection of local delicacies, including Chinese cuisine by Si Chuan Dou Hua, Italian fare by Mia Tavola, Mexican treats from Chimichanga, and artisanal pasta by Strong Flour, along with coffee and pastries from Group Therapy Café.

Ticketing Information
Affordable Art Fair tickets are available for purchase, with general entry tickets priced at S$25 and special Arty-Licious Evening tickets at S$30.

Children aged 16 and under enjoy free entry, with concessions available for students and seniors.

Very affordable artworks under S$800 each

Since its establishment, the Affordable Art Fair has welcomed over 3.3 million visitors and sold more than 600,000 artworks. Under the leadership of founder Will Ramsay, the fair continues to make art accessible worldwide, including Singapore, where Fair Director Alan Koh has been pivotal in its success since 2010.
