TikTok has expanded its commitment to online safety by refreshing the Scam Prevention Edition of its Digital Wellness Hub. This initiative is part of a broader collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), and the Singapore Police Force (SPF), aiming to equip users with the knowledge and tools to navigate digital platforms securely.
In response to a rising number of scams in Singapore – which saw a 16.3% increase in cases in the first half of 2024 – TikTok’s upgraded platform provides up-to-date resources for users to detect and report scams. This latest release builds on the success of its 2023 edition, focusing on raising awareness around current scam tactics and practical prevention strategies.
The refreshed Digital Wellness Hub features three key sections:
“Due to the complexity of scam tactics, it’s crucial we keep educating the community to recognize and report fraud,” said Teresa Tan, Director of Public Policy at TikTok Singapore and ASEAN. Senior Assistant Commissioner Devrajan Bala, Director of the SPF’s Scams Public Education Office, echoed this, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in the fight against scams.
The Digital Wellness Hub is accessible on TikTok by searching relevant scam-related terms. Further information is available on TikTok’s Safety Center, supporting users to make safer digital choices and contribute to a more secure online community.
