Royal Caribbean International presents its latest innovation, Star of the Seas. The highly anticipated ship has just reached a significant milestone, as it floated for the first time during a celebratory ceremony at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. This achievement comes less than a year before its official debut at Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, in August 2025.
The maritime tradition, complete with a cannon shot, marked 19 months of hard work by thousands of workers, as the dry dock was flooded with 92 million gallons of water—a process that took nearly nine hours overnight. Star of the Seas was then floated out of the dock and moved to the outfitting pier, where the final touches will be made.
This groundbreaking ship promises to double the thrills with new experiences, building on the excitement brought by Icon of the Seas. Featuring eight unique neighborhoods, including the family-friendly Surfside, Star of the Seas will offer something for every type of traveler. From exhilarating waterslides to over 40 dining and drinking spots, it’s designed to create unforgettable memories. Guests will also enjoy seven-night island-hopping adventures, including a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
