Hyundai Motor Reaches Historic Milestone with 100 Million Vehicles Produced Globally

Hyundai Motor Company has achieved a major milestone, celebrating the production of 100 million vehicles globally. This remarkable accomplishment was reached in just 57 years, making Hyundai one of the fastest-growing automakers in the world. To commemorate this historic achievement, the company hosted a special ceremony at its Ulsan Plant in Korea.

During the event, Hyundai symbolically handed over its 100 millionth and first vehicle, an IONIQ 5, directly to a customer. The vehicle rolled off the inspection line at Ulsan’s shipping center, representing both the company’s success and its forward-looking commitment to innovation. The ceremony also featured a display marking ‘100 million and 1,’ showcasing Hyundai’s dedication to continued progress beyond this milestone.

Hyundai’s Ulsan Plant, operational since 1968, holds a key role in the company’s history, having produced Korea’s first mass-produced model, the Pony, in 1975. Today, Ulsan is a hub for Hyundai’s electric vehicle (EV) production, with a dedicated EV facility currently being established on-site.

This achievement is a testament to Hyundai’s rapid global growth, driven by the launch of premium brands like Genesis, the high-performance N brand, and cutting-edge EVs like the IONIQ 5, based on the company’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). Hyundai’s production network spans the globe, with facilities in Turkey, India, the U.S., and the Czech Republic, contributing to its impressive production figures, including surpassing 50 million vehicles in 2013.

Looking ahead, Hyundai continues to push the boundaries of innovation. Last year, the company established the Hyundai Motor Group Global Innovation Center in Singapore (HMGICS), a hub for smart urban mobility solutions. Advanced technologies developed there, including AI, robotics, and smart manufacturing platforms, are set to transform future production facilities, including Hyundai’s Metaplant in the U.S., further maximizing efficiency and sustaining Hyundai’s legacy of excellence.
