dsm-firmenich has unveiled two state-of-the-art facilities in Singapore’s Tuas, marking a significant leap in its innovation and production capabilities. Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the newly launched FutureBites – Food Design Studio and the Perfumery Automated Compounding Encapsulation (PEACE) Facility represent a S$30 million investment to enhance the company’s research, food innovation, and manufacturing capacities while fostering regional talent.
The grand opening, attended by Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, dsm-firmenich CEO Dimitri de Vreeze, and Swiss Ambassador Frank Grütter, highlights the strategic importance of these facilities. The FutureBites – Food Design Studio, the first of its kind in Asia, will serve as a regional hub for R&D, focusing on plant-based food innovations that cater to Asia’s diverse culinary preferences. Collaborations with top research institutes like the National University of Singapore (NUS) and A*STAR are set to drive further advancements in sustainable food solutions.
On the production side, the PEACE Facility spans 11,000 square meters and is designed to meet the growing demands of brands across Asia, providing flexibility and speed in manufacturing. It also houses the region’s only production site for dsm-firmenich’s Popscent technology, offering long-lasting fragrance solutions. This facility underscores the company’s dedication to sustainability and is expected to deliver its first batch of products by September 2024.
With these new developments, dsm-firmenich continues to strengthen its role as a key player in Asia’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, delivering innovative solutions to markets across East Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and South Asia. Since its establishment in Singapore in 1974, the company has grown its presence to include 600 employees and 80 scientists, reinforcing Singapore as its primary hub for the Asia-Pacific region.
