The Kingdom of Bhutan has unveiled its brand-new Tourism Services Portal, an innovative platform designed to enhance the experience for travelers. Launched by Bhutan’s Department of Tourism, the portal streamlines access to a wide range of tourism services, making it easier than ever for visitors to explore Bhutan with confidence.
As of August 23, 2024, the portal has onboarded 404 Bhutanese tour operators, 948 certified guides, 100 hotels, and 14 homestays, with many more service providers expected to join in the coming weeks. To ensure the successful registration of businesses across Bhutan’s districts (Dzongkhags), the Department of Tourism is conducting webinars with Economic Development Marketing Officers (EDMOs) to help onboard additional service providers.
Developed in partnership with a Bhutanese tech company, the portal reflects the country’s dedication to nurturing local expertise. Visitors can now easily connect with accredited providers, book accommodations, and plan their itineraries with ease, all in one centralized system.
This launch is part of Bhutan’s broader push to enhance its digital infrastructure and ensure a seamless experience for both tourists and the local tourism industry. As Bhutan celebrates 50 years of tourism, this new platform marks a major milestone in its ongoing efforts to modernize and sustain its unique tourism model.
The Tourism Services Portal is being promoted through the Department of Tourism’s website, marketing channels, and social media, offering travelers a convenient and comprehensive resource for planning their journey to the Land of the Thunder Dragon.
