IKEA Singapore has officially completed the refurbishment of its beloved Alexandra store, a staple in the neighborhood since 1995. After welcoming over 80 million visitors in nearly three decades, the store has undergone a significant transformation to enhance customer experience and better serve the community. With a S$20 million investment since 2021, IKEA Alexandra now offers an upgraded shopping experience from start to finish.
From the moment customers arrive, they’ll notice improvements, starting with the carpark. More parking spaces have been added for families, electric vehicles, and people with disabilities. A new pickup point for private hire cars is also available. Inside, the showroom has been reimagined with a new layout and additional room sets to inspire creativity.
Shoppers will also find a brand-new bakery near the checkout area, filling the air with the tempting aroma of fresh-baked goods. The Swedish Restaurant has been refreshed with vibrant colors and new furniture, plus a dedicated space for young families complete with a microwave for baby food and child-friendly utensils. Upgraded washrooms now feature larger baby care areas for both mothers and fathers, reflecting IKEA’s commitment to inclusivity.
Muslim customers can also take advantage of upgraded male and female prayer rooms, located in the basement. In partnership with SG Enable, IKEA has made the store more accessible for visitors with disabilities. Feedback from focus groups led to wider aisles, gentler slopes, and a height-adjusted, wheelchair-accessible self-checkout counter. A dedicated room setting showcases how IKEA furniture can seamlessly incorporate accessibility features into homes.
To celebrate the store’s grand reopening, IKEA Alexandra is hosting a housewarming party on August 24-25. The weekend promises a lineup of exciting activities, treats, and exclusive offers.
Visitors can look forward to meeting IKEA’s friendly Alien mascot, who will be entertaining guests with dance performances and interactive games at various times throughout the weekend. The first 100 customers on both days will receive a goodie bag filled with $30 worth of Swedish treats. Kids aged 8 to 12 can join in a game of musical chairs for a chance to win a cuddly AFTONSPARV soft toy.
For those feeling lucky, there’s a Bingo Bonanza at the store’s entrance on Level 2, with prizes up for grabs. Shoppers can also indulge in a complimentary Swedish candy bar featuring five different sweets.
During the housewarming party, IKEA Alexandra will offer exclusive discounts on some of its most iconic products. From foldable umbrellas and minimalist side tables to stylish desks and comfortable armchairs, there’s something for every home.
No party is complete without food, and IKEA has plenty to offer. Stop by the Swedish Restaurant or Bistro for tasty deals like $1 donuts, $2 twister fries with nacho cheese, and a $5 salmon and spaghetti set with chili crab sauce.
Join the fun at IKEA Alexandra’s housewarming party, where there’s something for everyone as they explore the newly refurbished store.
