4 Things to Do at Krabi, Thailand

Krabi, a jewel in Thailand’s crown, offers the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty. Whether you’re seeking adrenaline-pumping activities or simply want to unwind by the beach, Krabi has something for everyone. And the best part? This tropical paradise is only a short flight away from Singapore, making it an ideal destination for a quick getaway.

Getting There: A Breeze with Jetstar

Our journey to Krabi starts with a convenient flight from Singapore. Jetstar offers six flights a week between the two destinations, with a flying time of just 1 hour and 50 minutes. And with one-way flights starting as low as S$83, it’s an affordable escape that won’t break the bank.

We got on the flight, had a quick but sumptuous meal (may we add that the Hainanese Chicken Rice was really good?) and before we had even warmed our seats proper, we reached Krabi.

Island Hopping and Snorkelling at Phi Phi Islands

The adventure began almost immediately after touching down. Krabi’s famed Phi Phi Islands were first on the list, and they did not disappoint. Picture this: turquoise waters so clear you can see the ocean floor, beaches lined with powdery white sand and dramatic cliffs rising from the sea, accompanied by the soft lull of waves. It’s a beach lover’s dream come true.

Phi Phi Islands is an archipelago made up of six islands. So you might not be able to cover all the islands in a day but that does not diminish the fun in any way.

The highlight of the island-hopping tour was Phi Phi Le. This smaller, uninhabited island is famous for its breathtaking beauty and as the setting for the movie *The Beach*. As the boat approached, we were greeted by the sight of towering limestone cliffs encircling a lagoon of the most astonishing blue-green waters. If you are into snorkelling, the waters are teeming with sea life. Do your snorkelling gear, plunge into the turquoise waters and you will find a vibrant underwater world await you.

Monkey Beach is another unique stop. As the name suggests, it is a slice of paradise where mischievous monkeys roam freely. These little creatures are the true stars of the beach, and watching them scamper around, curiously eyeing the tourists, was an absolute delight. Unfortunately, we were told that we could not get off the boat onto the island for some reason.

Tonsai Beach was a surprise. Before our boat reached, we were simply told it would be our lunch stop. Little did we expect to find a vibrant hub that perfectly blends laid-back island vibes with a lively social scene. Tonsai Beach is not just a haven for beachgoers but also a hotspot for those seeking a bit of excitement. As you stroll along the sandy shores, you’ll find a bustling array of bars, cafes, shops, and restaurants, each offering something unique. Whether you’re in the mood for a refreshing cocktail at a beachfront bar, a cozy coffee in a charming café or a leisurely meal at a seaside restaurant, Tonsai has it all. The variety of shops and stalls along Tonsai Beach also adds to its charm, offering everything from handmade crafts to trendy beachwear, making it an ideal spot for both shopping and soaking in the lively island culture.

Rock Climbing at Railay

While Krabi’s beaches are a major draw, you would be surprised that Krabi also offers rock climbing for the adventure seeker. A short longtail boat ride away from Ao Nang Beach, Railay is a world-renowned rock climbing destination. The best part? You don’t need to be a pro to enjoy climbing here. Railay offers routes for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. For those who manage to scale to the top, you would be rewarded with a panoramic vista of Krabi’s stunning coastline—emerald waters stretching out to the horizon, dotted with lush islands.

Sunset Watching at Reeve Beach Club Krabi

After a day of adventure, there’s no better place to unwind than Reeve Beach Club Krabi. Nestled on the beaches of Ao Nang, this beach club offers the perfect setting to watch the sun dip below the horizon.

We arrived just as the golden hour began and the atmosphere was nothing short of magical. The beach club is tastefully designed with comfortable loungers, a well-stocked bar and an unobstructed view of the Andaman Sea. As we sipped on a refreshing cocktail, the sky transformed into a canvas of warm oranges.

When night fell, the beach club upped the ante with exhilarating fire shows and delectable cuisine that featured sushi, pizzas, pastas and of course, seafood.

Shopping and Eating at Ao Nang

No trip to Krabi would be complete without exploring Ao Nang, the lively beach town that is a hub of activity both day and night. The main street is lined with shops offering everything from handmade crafts to trendy beachwear. The shopaholic in me spent a delightful afternoon browsing through the stalls, picking up a few unique souvenirs to bring home.

But what really captured my heart was the food. As many of us know, Thailand is a food lover’s paradise and Ao Nang is no exception, with an array of dining options that cater to every palate. I opted to go local and try some traditional Thai dishes at some of the local restaurants.

If you’re looking for a quick escape to a tropical paradise, Krabi is the place to be. With Jetstar’s convenient flights from Singapore, you can be soaking up the sun on Phi Phi Islands, climbing cliffs at Railay, or enjoying a sunset cocktail at Reeve Beach Club in just under two hours. And with one-way flights as low as S$83, it’s an affordable dream vacation you can’t say no to.
