Singtel is marking this year’s National Day and the Olympic Games with the launch of its annual National Day film, supporting Team Singapore athletes heading to Paris for the world’s most prestigious sporting competition. The 90-second film, titled “Shining Bright From Singapore to Paris,” celebrates the Olympic journeys of three of Singapore’s most promising athletes: shuttler Loh Kean Yew, kitefoiler Maximilian Maeder, and fencer Kiria Tikanah Abdul Rahman.
This film is the latest in Singtel’s series of branded films embodying its guiding principle, Empower Every Generation. This principle directs every aspect of Singtel’s business, harnessing the power of technology to inspire and uplift communities.
Singtel has been an Official Partner of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) since 2012 and is one of the earliest corporate sponsors supporting Team Singapore athletes. In 2023, Singtel renewed its sponsorship with SNOC for the third time, pledging S$1.7 million over the next five years – its biggest sports sponsorship to date. This funding will continue to support training grants for athletes and offset fees and expenses at major competitions.
In the film, Kean Yew, Maximilian, and Kiria are seen preparing for the Paris Olympics with their coaches and teammates, training against iconic Singapore locations such as Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay, and Henderson Waves at Telok Blangah Hill Park. As they prepare physically and mentally for one of the most important competitions of their careers, they highlight three critical ingredients for success: speed, resilience, and tenacity.
“Shining Bright From Singapore to Paris” premieres today on Singtel TV and across its digital platforms. Each athlete will also feature in separate 30-second videos, each focusing on one of the three essential values for achieving success.
Maximilian Maeder, seen “flying” through the waters in his video, shares his desire to “show the world how fast and powerful our nation can be.” With consecutive victories leading up to Paris, Maximilian is set to make his first Olympic appearance this year, having previously become the youngest winner in any Olympic sailing class competition at the age of 16 in 2023.
Kiria Tikanah Abdul Rahman made history as the first female Singaporean to compete in the epee event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In her video, she talks about rising to the challenge to make Singapore proud. Having secured her place in this year’s Olympic Games, Kiria is ready to rise to the challenge once more.
Loh Kean Yew, in his video, expresses his determination to “show the world our tenacity and strength.” Since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he has earned a world championship title and three BWF World Tour wins. Now stronger both physically and mentally, he is ready to make a big impact in Paris.
