Scorpio Electric Secures LTA’s Special Purpose License for X1 Durability and Endurance Tests in Singapore

Scorpio Electric Pte. Ltd. has reached a significant milestone by becoming the first Singapore-based electric motorcycle manufacturer to receive a Special Purpose License (SPL) from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for its flagship electric maxi-scooter, the Scorpio Electric X1 (X1). This SPL, effective for 12 months starting mid-July 2024, will enable Scorpio Electric to conduct comprehensive durability and endurance tests of the X1 on public roads in Singapore.

Advancing Sustainable Transportation

Dedicated to pushing the boundaries of electric motorcycle technology and promoting sustainable transportation solutions, Scorpio Electric will leverage the data and insights gathered from these tests to enhance the durability and performance of the X1 and future vehicles.

Real-World Testing with Special Purpose License

Issued on July 15, 2024, the SPL allows Scorpio Electric to validate the X1’s performance under real-world conditions. As part of the license, the LTA has provided a Research & Development license plate for the X1, which will be affixed to the vehicle during public road tests.

Future Plans and Commitment

Looking ahead, Scorpio Electric is committed to delivering the X1 to the market, with production and deliveries expected to commence in 2025. In the coming months, the company will focus on strengthening partnerships and exploring new growth opportunities in the region.
