foodpanda is enhancing the online grocery shopping experience with the launch of its new item replacement feature on foodpanda shops. This innovative addition allows customers to find quick alternatives when their desired products are unavailable, making grocery shopping more convenient than ever.
When an ordered item is out of stock, customers will receive a push notification or text message, prompting them to choose a substitute product. They will have five minutes to make their selection before the replacement process ends, and a refund is issued for the unavailable item. foodpanda shops pickers are trained to analyze customer preferences, product specifications, and real-time inventory levels, ensuring that replacements closely match the original items and meet customer needs effectively.
A recent study revealed that retailers could lose nearly $1.2 trillion globally in 2023 due to out-of-stock products. By offering replacements instead of immediate refunds, foodpanda’s new feature aims to save tens of millions annually in lost sales for its retail partners, boosting their revenue potential. For customers, this means seamless order fulfillment without the hassle of making another purchase, resulting in significant time and cost savings.
The item replacement feature is initially available for supermarkets and health and beauty retailers on foodpanda shops, including Giant, Cold Storage, Guardian, and Watsons. More retailers will be added in the future, further expanding the convenience and efficiency of online grocery shopping on the platform.
