[Review] LUMOS New AURO V2 Flagship Home Projector – Value-for-Money Under S$500 Projector with Netflix & YouTube Certification

Four years after the launch of their first flagship AURO home projector, home-grown projector brand, LUMOS, recently launched an upgraded version, the AURO V2.

Exterior design wise, it is taller and has a more modern look compared to the original AURO to optimise on horizontal space. It is also lighter and more compact, weighing around 2kg versus 3kg for AURO.

The LUMOS flagship AURO projector was first launched in 2020 during the thick of the Covid-19 pandemic and was well-received in Singapore by the home entertainment viewing audience stuck at home. Since then, LUMOS launched several other projector models, including smaller, portable versions like the LUMOS NANO.

Building upon the success of its predecessor, the AURO V2 boasts several upgraded features, while keeping the price point low at under S$500. Key differences between the AURO and AURO V2 are highlighted in this video:

In summary, it is more compact and more space efficient; is now officially certified by Netflix and YouTube, delivering much faster video load time and a smoother user experience; upgraded from manual to auto focus and auto keystone correction; and finally, better sound with an upgraded dual speakers system.

Netflix & YouTube Certification

A key highlight and selling proposition of the AURO V2 is its official certification by Netflix and YouTube, with LUMOS being the first Singaporean projector brand to receive such recognition. These certifications, typically reserved for premium, brand name projectors in higher price ranges, ensure seamless access to streaming services without common issues like login errors or compatibility glitches.

We tested it out against the original AURO and the difference in user experience in terms of the app load time and navigation is stunningly worlds apart. To be fair, there is a four years age gap between the two models and a reasonable price difference. Once you experience the AURO V2, you are unlikely to regress back to to the original AURO.

Enhanced Tech Features

The AURO V2 comes with many upgraded tech features from the original AURO, including inbuilt phone mirroring and the latest in auto-focus and auto-correction technology.

Bid farewell to third-party apps with native phone mirroring, enabling users to effortlessly project content onto a massive 100-inch screen with minimal lag.

Moreover, the AURO V2’s AI-driven auto-correction eliminates the hassle of manual adjustments, optimising focus and shape within seconds, even in confined spaces. We tested it against a wall projection that is under a body length away and it was still able to auto focused and shaped the projection to an ideal viewing experience within a minute.

With a minimal projection distance of 1.5 meters, the AURO V2 can transform any room into a home cinema, accommodating small Singaporean living spaces with ease. From a cinematic 50-inch screen to an expansive 300-inch display, you can immerse yourselves in stunning native 1080p resolution with 6,000 lumens of brightness, delivering vivid colors and sharp imagery.

Enhanced Audio Experience

Enhancing the immersive experience is the AURO V2’s inbuilt Dolby Audio Dual Speakers, producing rich, robust sound without the need for additional audio systems. This is a significant upgrade from the original AURO, with a more powerful bass, delivering dynamic, full-bodied sound.

Overall, we are sold that the AURO V2 is a significant upgrade from the original AURO. It is also priced reasonably at a much lower price point than brand name projectors with similar tech specifications.

Pricing and Availability, 5.5 Promotion

The LUMOS AURO V2 SMART is now available for purchase at a very reasonable price of S$498, backed with a 1-year local warranty.

There is a 5.5 new launch sale now on LUMOS official website. Get a FREE LUMOS TEMPO wireless earbuds (worth S$359) with every purchase of the LUMOS AURO V2.
