Introducing Canon CJ27e x 7.3B: A Game-Changing 4K Broadcast Zoom Lens for Enhanced Visual Storytelling

Canon has introduced the CJ27e x 7.3B, the newest addition to its UHDxs series of portable telephoto broadcast zoom lenses. Boasting exceptional optical performance tailored for 4K broadcast cameras with 2/3-inch sensors, this cutting-edge product maintains the compact and lightweight design of its predecessors while delivering unparalleled wide angles and high-level zoom magnification.

A key highlight of the CJ27e x 7.3B is its integration of the state-of-the-art e-Xs V digital drive unit, which not only enhances operability but also introduces new functionalities within an ergonomic framework. Designed to meet the evolving needs of diverse shooting scenarios, this zoom lens promises immersive visual experiences across a spectrum of applications, from live broadcasts and news reports to studio recordings and remote productions utilizing specialized equipment.

Performance and Versatility

Featuring a 7.3mm wide-angle end perfect for capturing expansive studios or sweeping landscapes, the CJ27e x 7.3B also offers an impressive 27x zoom magnification, encompassing a broad range of commonly used focal lengths. This versatility enables shooting at the telephoto end up to 197mm, while a built-in 2x extender doubles the zoom range, allowing for highly detailed shots at distances of up to 394mm.

Despite its remarkable 27x magnification, the lens maintains swift operational responsiveness for focus and zoom functions, ensuring seamless capture of fast-moving subjects, particularly in dynamic settings like sports broadcasting. Moreover, the iris responsiveness has been further improved, enhancing the lens’s ability to adapt to rapidly changing lighting conditions.

Next-Generation Connectivity and Control

A notable feature of the CJ27e x 7.3B is its integration of versatile USB Type-C ports, a first for Canon’s digital drive units. These ports facilitate the effortless export/import of lens settings data to/from USB memory drives, as well as firmware updates directly by users. Furthermore, the USB connectivity enables the export of lens focus, zoom, and iris settings data, empowering remote systems to control the lens, thereby enhancing compatibility with remote shooting and virtual production setups, which are increasingly in demand.
