Acclaimed autistic teen artist, Alex Lim, known as The Unskilled Boy, has unveiled his latest artistic venture – the “It’s OK” postcards series. This limited-edition collection of 12 postcards reflects the 18-year-old artist’s candid perspective on everyday situations and life in general, marking his debut into the realm of digital art.
Having honed his skills in digital collage over the past six months, Alex has expanded his artistic repertoire to include this unique series of postcards. Each postcard encapsulates Alex’s profound love for animals, a theme that resonates deeply with the young artist.
“It’s OK” signifies a profound lifelong lesson for Alex – the acceptance of imperfection and embracing differences, both in oneself and in others. Through his artwork, Alex aims to spread this message of acceptance and understanding to a wider audience.
This latest release follows Alex’s recent successes in the art world. In January and February 2024, his abstract paintings, “House On A Hill” and “Mountains & Hills,” were showcased at the ArtPara exhibition in South Korea, alongside other works from Singapore. Prior to this, Alex exhibited as an Individual Artist at Singapore’s Shaping Hearts art festival in November and December 2023, where he was commissioned for a collection of merchandise.
The “It’s OK” postcards series is now available for purchase on The Unskilled Boy’s website. A complete set of 12 A6-sized postcards is priced at $25, with options for sets of six at $16 or three postcards at $10. Delivery is free within Singapore, making these heartfelt creations accessible to all.
Since the age of 10, Alex, aka The Unskilled Boy, has been exploring his passion for abstract and pop art. Working with various mediums such as acrylic, ink, oil pastels, watercolor, and pencils, Alex’s art captures the beauty and humor found in nature, animals, and everyday objects. With a bold and vibrant style, his paintings emanate honesty and love, reflecting his mission to share art with the world while ensuring affordability for all.
