Exploring the Prehistoric World: DinoQuest Exhibition Arrives at Guixi Ecological Park

The renowned DinoQuest exhibition has journeyed from its world premiere at the Science Centre Singapore to its latest destination: the Guixi Ecological Park in Chengdu, China. This move not only celebrates the resilience of cultural and scientific endeavors but also highlights the strong collaborative relationship between Singapore and China, even amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Originally captivating audiences in Singapore, the DinoQuest exhibition transports visitors millions of years back to the Cretaceous period, where they encounter Australian polar dinosaurs. This immersive adventure, suitable for all ages, represents the Science Centre’s ongoing commitment to providing entertaining yet educational STEM+ experiences.

At Guixi Ecological Park, the DinoQuest exhibition takes interactive exploration to new heights across seven thematic zones. Curated by the Science Centre Board in partnership with Emerita Professor Patricia Vickers-Rich, whose expertise and fossil collection contribute to the exhibit’s authenticity, the experience is brought to life through cutting-edge experiential technology by Digimagic Communications.

Guests at Guixi Ecological Park are invited to embark on a multi-sensory quest alongside virtual guides, paleontologist Professor V, and her assistant Rex. Through holographic mapping and mixed reality environments, visitors delve into the world of rare polar dinosaurs, including the latest reconstruction of Timimus, a tyrannosauroid discovered by Professor Vickers-Rich and her husband.

The journey through the exhibition unfolds across seven captivating zones:

Explorer’s Hut: Guests are introduced to holographic guides, Professor V and Rex, and register their RFID i-DinoTag to begin the quest.

Dinosaur of Darkness: An exploration of Australia in the early Cretaceous period, featuring animatronics and 4D elements.

Extinction Theatre: An immersive 4D experience showcasing the cataclysmic events that led to dinosaur extinction.

Dig Site: A replica of a paleontological dig site where guests learn about fossilization and the science of paleontology.

Laboratory: Witness the dinosaur preparation process and experience 3D holographic mapping at the Giant Megalania Alive Studio.

Dinosaur Dreaming: Encounter reconstructed dinosaur skeletons and explore natural history specimens.

Activity Zone: The journey concludes with hands-on activities where guests can create virtual dinosaurs.

The DinoQuest exhibition opened its doors at the Guixi Ecological Park on February 7, 2024, inviting visitors on a journey through the mysteries of the prehistoric world.
