Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, whether you’re planning a romantic date or simply looking for a delicious meal, here is a recommendation for you!
Newly opened in January 2024, MOSS CROSS TOKYO offers an accessible entry into the world of omakase dining, with lunch starting at $69++, while dinner options begin at $128++.
The 40-seater restaurant is located in Chinatown’s Capri by Fraser, China Square and helmed by Executive Chef Akihiro Masuyama who marries French-Japanese flavors in the restaurant’s signature Shokado Omakase offerings.
Shokado Omakase combines the elegance of a traditional Japanese meal set, served in a compartmentalized Shokado bento, with the surprise and delight of omakase, where the chef selects each course.
All omakase courses at MOSS CROSS TOKYO start with the Shokado-9, a 9-course small bite appetizers served in an elegant Shokado bento. The nine appetizers introduce a spectrum of flavors, tantalising your palate for the meal ahead.
MOSS CROSS TOKYO takes its dining experience a notch higher with specially commissioned cutlery made by a Japanese sword maker, adding an artistic touch to the table setting.
We sampled the Wakon-Yosai, a seven-course dinner priced at $150++.
The experience begins with the Shokado-9. Savor the appetizers from right to left, top to bottom, allowing your palate to be gently awakened by the diverse range of flavors that gradually build up to a crescendo. With the seasonality of ingredients, each visit holds the promise of new delights.
The second course boasts a large creamy Hyogo oyster nestled in velvety milk foam, accompanied by camembert mousse, caviar, and kelp broth. The rich, savory taste of the sea bursts in the mouth. Absolutely delightful.
The third course presents a molten crab chawan-mushi, seamlessly blending French and Japanese techniques to create the smoothest egg custard, complemented by a light crab bisque emulsion and adorned with edible flowers and herbs.
For the fourth course, Hokkaido Tokachi herb-fed beef cutlet is served with a homemade Worcestershire sauce, highlighting the meat’s rich flavor and tender texture.
For those who do not eat beef, alternatives can be arranged with the restaurant, such as seafood. We tried Kimedai with Egyptian dukkah and enjoyed the clean, tender fish with the earthy and mildly spicy sauce.
The fifth course introduces roasted Hirame on blanched spinach with a sake-beurre blanc and herb oil. The delicate fish flavor is balanced with crunchy almonds and tender lily bulb.
A fusion of flavors characterizes the sixth course: Kyoto Wagyu sushi with sea urchin and truffle soy sauce, complemented by a side of tsugani (crab) miso soup.
The soup truly stood out for me—the interplay of sweetness from the vegetable broth and the savory flavors infused by the crab and miso left me feeling that this dish epitomized the essence of umami.
Get ready for dessert—it’s the seventh and final course!
Ever thought of veggies for dessert? Me neither. But trust me, you’ve got to try the daikon compote tiramisu with fresh Mikan Mandarin oranges. It’s a veggie twist on a classic, using daikon, the root veggie we’re more accustomed to seeing in stews, but here, it gets a creative makeover as a dessert. And let me tell you, it tastes just as amazing as it sounds inventive.
For those seeking a more conventional choice, treat yourself to their delightful white chocolate paired with white bean paste mousse dessert. If you’re aiming for an Instagram-worthy photo, this dessert is bound to steal the spotlight on your feed.
To complement your meal, consider the drinks pairing starting from $40. The selection is expertly curated by General Manager and Sommelier Kazuki Kodama, featuring a diverse range of wines and sakes that connect back to Japanese roots, whether through origin, production, or craftsmanship.

I had the pleasure of dining at The Flower Shop recently, and I was incredibly impressed by the level of service provided. The staff were friendly, attentive, and professional, making me feel valued as a customer from the moment I arrived. They were quick to seat me and took the time to explain the menu and answer any questions I had. Throughout the meal, they checked in regularly to ensure that everything was to my liking. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Visit site.
