LKY100 Commemorative Exhibition Returns to Changi Airport

LKY100 commemorative exhibition, “The Courage to Dream: The Making of the Changi Airport Story,” is back for its second run, promising visitors a captivating exploration of Singapore’s aviation history. Hosted by Changi Airport Group, this immersive exhibition, previously showcased at Jewel in September 2023, is now open to the public at Changi Airport Terminal 2 until February 28, 2024.

Unveiling Rarely-Seen Archival Content

Step into a world of visionary leadership, boldness, and conviction as you traverse through six interactive zones, each offering a unique perspective on the development and success of Changi Airport. From its inception in the 1970s to the present day and a glimpse into the future of aviation, “The Courage to Dream” sheds light on the untold stories behind the iconic airport’s creation.

What sets this second run apart is the unveiling of fresh exhibits in the form of newly released archival materials, declassified from the archives for public viewing. These documents provide intimate perspectives on how the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew and his team shaped the growth of Singapore’s air hub:

  • Two steering committee reports on the airport’s development dated 1976, adorned with a handwritten note by Mr. Lee himself.
  • A 1979 press release from then Public Works Department, chronicling the progressive developments of Changi Airport.
  • The original 1981 masterplan of Changi Airport, revealing the foresight behind the long-term planning of the airport.
  • A memo from Mr. Lee in 1980, outlining the visionary greening of Airport Boulevard before the grand opening of Changi Airport.

Fresh Perspectives and Chinese Language Inclusion

This exhibition aims to provide fresh perspectives, allowing visitors to delve deeper into the historical significance of Changi Airport. In a notable move, the exhibition is now available in the Chinese language, catering to a broader audience and enhancing the experience for Mandarin-speaking visitors.

A Glimpse into the Future of Aviation

As you explore the exhibition, not only will you witness the remarkable past of Changi Airport, but you will also get an exciting glimpse into its future. Discover how the visionary leadership of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew laid the groundwork for Changi Airport’s ongoing success and its strategic planning for the years ahead.

Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a historic journey. Visit Changi Airport Terminal 2 to experience “The Courage to Dream” exhibition before it concludes on February 28, 2024.
