Grab Introduces Family Account BETA: Transforming the Ride-Sharing Experience for Loved Ones

Grab takes a leap forward by introducing Family Account BETA—an innovative feature designed to streamline the process of tracking and paying for your loved ones’ rides. This new addition to the Grab platform aims to enhance the user experience by providing a seamless solution for families in Singapore and beyond.

Starting today, Grab users in Singapore can sign up for the Family Account BETA, enabling administrators to add their loved ones as members, share payment methods, and monitor the whereabouts of family members in real-time, even when multiple trips are happening simultaneously.

Excitingly, Grab plans to roll out the Family Account feature across other markets in 2024, offering users the flexibility to manage rides for their loved ones, no matter where they are in the region.

Driven by User Needs and Preferences

The development of Family Account stems from valuable insights gained by Grab. More than 50% of users in Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia were already booking rides on behalf of their family members. Additionally, 62% of respondents across all markets expressed the desire to link their family members’ Grab accounts to theirs.

The primary motivation behind this user demand was a genuine concern for the safety and well-being of their loved ones during rides. Convenience also emerged as a significant factor, as users found it more efficient to share a payment method within the family.

How Family Account Works

Here’s a breakdown of how the Family Account BETA works:

Easy Setup: The Family Account administrator sends invitations to each family member’s Grab account.

Member Limit: Up to nine family members can be added to a Family Account, empowering the administrator to manage their rides effortlessly.

Booking Process: Family members simply book rides through their individual apps, while the administrator takes care of the payment details through the Family Account.

Shared Payments: The administrator has the capability to pay for family members’ rides and access a comprehensive transaction history for all rides.

Ride Monitoring: Family Account includes ride monitoring, allowing administrators to track the details of their family members’ rides without manual sharing.

Direct Communication: The feature includes a group chat that enables the administrator to communicate directly with the driver, providing an additional layer of convenience and safety.
