From 30 November to 10 December 2023, the stage is set for the grand return of the Singapore Media Festival (SMF) as it marks its 10th edition with a dazzling array of events. Hosted by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), this festival is not just an event—it’s a celebration of innovation, creativity, and the ever-evolving landscape of media. With an anticipated attendance of over 50,000 media professionals, leaders, content creators, and enthusiasts from Asia and beyond, SMF is gearing up to be the nexus of Asia’s media industry.
Under the theme “Make It Here,” the festival invites media enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, creators, and consumers to delve into the world of diverse media innovations, forge strategic partnerships, and explore Singapore’s finest creations for the global stage. SMF has been a cornerstone of Asia’s international media industry events since 2014, hosting over 274,000 participants from 60 countries over the last decade. The festival has generated a staggering S$3.04 billion (US$2.23 billion) worth of deals and partnerships, birthing notable projects like the blockbuster “Crazy Rich Asians.”
This year, SMF boasts an 11-day extravaganza, attracting 50,000 participants from over 60 countries, including 5,000 media professionals and 700 content creators. The festival promises a cinematic treat with over 100 films from 50 countries, including 20 world premieres. Dive into the heart of the action with 4 In-Development labs and pitches, creators’ discussion panels featuring 30 speakers, and 16 official pavilions where industry leaders share insights and best practices.
A new addition to SMF, Nas Summit Asia, in collaboration with content creator Nas Daily, takes place on December 7th and 8th. Learn from more than 30 speakers, including Ng Kai Yuan from Our Grandfather Story and Maureen from Miss Tam Chiak, as they share insights on diversifying storytelling skills and scaling content to regional and global audiences.
Experience the all-new Creators Con, a B2C segment of Singapore Comic Con, where new media creators engage with their community and fans. This segment aims to empower creativity, foster innovation, and celebrate diversity and inclusivity through meet-and-greets and creators Q&A sessions.
SGIFF takes center stage with over 100 films from 50 countries, featuring 20 world premieres. Celebrate “Made-with-Singapore” films and IMDA-supported co-productions, with notable screenings including “Tiger Stripes,” winner of the Cannes Critics Week Grand Prize. Golden Horse Award Winner Fan Bing Bing graces the festival’s red carpet on opening day.
