The Boys’ Brigade Share-A-Gift (BBSG) project is back for its 36th year, and this time, it’s reaching new horizons by extending its support to families with children residing in rental housing under the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s (MSF) Community Link (ComLink) programme. This expansion marks a significant milestone in the project’s history, aiming to bring joy and hope to an unprecedented total of 45,431 beneficiaries. The heartwarming initiative is made possible with the unwavering support of Prudential Singapore, returning as the Presenting Sponsor for the 15th consecutive year, along with other committed partners.
The official launch of BBSG 2023 took place at FairPrice Xtra in Kallang Wave Mall, graced by the esteemed Guest-of-Honour, Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance and National Development. Minister Rajah led the way by assembling a special food hamper filled with halal canned food, beverages, and rice, handpicked from the aisles of FairPrice Xtra. This symbolic act marked the initiation of BBSG 2023, with Minister Rajah making the first donations to kickstart the season of giving.
BBSG 2023 is extending its support to approximately 2,800 families under MSF’s ComLink programme, offering them food hampers to brighten their festive season. ComLink plays a crucial role in empowering families with children living in rental housing, striving to enhance their circumstances and foster stability, self-reliance, and social mobility.
In addition to ComLink beneficiaries, BBSG will be reaching out to a total of 36,953 General Wishes beneficiaries from Government-funded ComCare programmes, Social Service Agencies, and KidSTART Singapore. These beneficiaries will receive thoughtfully prepared food hampers containing halal-certified canned foods, rice, instant noodles, beverages, and biscuits. Furthermore, 8,478 Specific Wishes beneficiaries, including families, elderly individuals, children, and those with special needs, will have their unique wishes granted. These specific wishes are tailored to individualized requests, ranging from appliances to diapers and clothing.
BBSG 2023 is calling for the support of the public, offering several avenues for generous contributions. With an increased number of physical collection stations at six regional points across the island, individuals can donate food items at NTUC FairPrice supermarkets in locations such as Ang Mo Kio Hub, Jurong Point, Kallang Wave Mall, NEX, Bedok Mall, and Thomson Plaza. The collection stations will be open daily from 1 pm to 6 pm, spanning from November 22 to December 18, 2023.
For those who prefer online contributions, food hampers valued at $20, $50, and $80 can be donated through FairPrice Online. A new initiative with Cheers and FairPrice Xpress convenience stores, along with Cheers’ strategic partner ExxonMobil Asia Pacific, allows the public to purchase pre-curated BBSG food hampers at Esso service stations. Each hamper, valued at $22, will be directly donated to BBSG’s beneficiaries.
Cash donations are also welcome and can be made online via BB PayNow QR Codes displayed in 155 FairPrice stores, E-collaterals islandwide, FairPrice Online, AXS Stations, and BBSG Campaigns on the Boys Brigade page on Giving.sg, from now to 31 December 2023.
The project encourages the public to participate in the door-to-door delivery of BBSG Food Hampers from 5 to 27 December (excluding public holidays). Three sessions at 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm each day provide ample opportunities for volunteers to contribute to spreading joy within their communities.
