Leica Camera AG, renowned for its innovative spirit, proudly introduces the Leica M11-P, setting a remarkable milestone in photography. This groundbreaking camera becomes the world’s first to safeguard the authenticity of digital images by embedding Content Credentials directly into their metadata at the moment of capture. Content Credentials serve as a digital nutrition label, following widely accepted industry standards, paving the way for enhanced trust and transparency online. With the Leica M11-P, Leica not only acknowledges the invaluable contributions of photographers but also ensures the preservation of trust and transparency in digital content and its sources.

The M11-P leads the charge by implementing secure metadata in alignment with the open-source standard of the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI). This feature adds an extra layer of transparency when creating and editing an image by securely attaching crucial information, such as names, dates, edits, and tools used, thereby shedding light on the image’s origin. Every image captured by the Leica M11-P receives a digital signature supported by a CAI-compliant certificate through Content Credentials. The authenticity of these images can be readily verified at any time using an open-source CAI tool.

Leica’s Content Credentials technology ensures image authenticity through specialized camera hardware, featuring a unique chipset designed for storing digital certificates issued by the German Federal Printing Office. This state-of-the-art integration ensures traceability of an image’s origin. In this pursuit, Leica is at the forefront of establishing a new standard for preserving digital content, collaborating with Adobe and a global community of nearly 2,000 members, including media and tech companies, NGOs, academics, and more, all dedicated to promoting the adoption and implementation of Content Credentials.

In addition to its innovative Content Credentials technology, the Leica M11-P boasts other remarkable features. The iconic red Leica dot has been intentionally omitted, contributing to an even more discreet photography experience. Instead, a subtle Leica lettering is engraved on the top plate. The camera’s top plate and bottom cover are precision-milled from aluminum for the matte black version and from brass blocks for the silver chrome model. Combined with the camera’s all-metal body made from a highly robust magnesium alloy, this meticulous construction ensures the camera’s interior is well-protected.

This high-speed lens incorporates advanced technical features, making it perfectly suited for current sensor technology and future camera generations. The lens offers an extended minimum focusing distance from 70 to 40 centimeters, expanding photographic possibilities.
