Senoko Energy Launches SolarShare 2.0: Singapore’s First Peer-to-Peer Solar Energy Trading Platform

Senoko Energy unveils a groundbreaking solution that promises to reshape the country’s energy landscape. SolarShare 2.0, the first commercially available peer-to-peer grid-scale trading platform for solar energy in Singapore, is set to pave the way for a sustainable and renewable energy future.

Building on the success of the initial pilot project launched in 2020, SolarShare 2.0 signifies a major step toward achieving Singapore’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. This innovative platform is poised to empower businesses and households to access and utilize renewable energy at an unprecedented scale, 24/7, as green energy imports and battery storage solutions become more readily available.

Affordable, Accessible, and Environmentally Friendly

One of the key features of SolarShare 2.0 is its ability to democratize the renewable energy sector. Businesses and households will have the opportunity to both purchase and sell solar energy at prices that suit them. Senoko customers can opt to buy energy from specific solar generators or tap into a communal pool of surplus solar energy. This flexibility makes clean energy more accessible and affordable for a wider audience.

Transparency for Informed Choices

Another vital aspect of SolarShare 2.0 is its transparency. This trading platform enables businesses and households to track the source, time, and price of the solar energy they are utilizing over the grid. Users can also measure and trace their energy consumption on a half-hourly basis. This level of transparency equips businesses and households with the tools to monitor and manage their energy usage effectively, allowing them to make informed decisions that contribute to reducing their carbon footprint.

Launch Details

Senoko Energy is set to make SolarShare 2.0 available exclusively to all its business and household customers starting from 1 November 2023. To access this groundbreaking platform, businesses and households will be required to pay a nominal platform subscription fee, starting from as low as S$5.40 per month (including GST).

SolarShare 2.0 represents a significant leap forward in Singapore’s pursuit of sustainable and renewable energy sources. By allowing consumers to actively participate in the renewable energy market, Senoko Energy is paving the way for a cleaner, greener, and more environmentally friendly future for the country.
