UNIQLO Singapore has just unveiled its second collaboration collection with Studio Ghibli, and the launch event was an absolute wonderland of delights. Set against the backdrop of Bugis+ on 17 August, marked a day of pure enchantment as Ghibli aficionados, curious shoppers, and eager fans gathered to celebrate the theme “Hey, Let’s Go!”
Two stars, worlds apart, united by their love for Studio Ghibli – Toshio Suzuki, the visionary representative director and producer of Studio Ghibli, and Mario Maurer, the heartthrob Thai actor and die-hard Ghibli enthusiast, graced the event as key speakers. Their presence added an extra layer of magic as they shared captivating stories about the collection, the studio’s masterpieces, and their personal connections to the enchanting world of Ghibli.
Guests were treated to an array of Ghibli-inspired activities that lit up their senses. Imagine posing next to life-sized inflatables of beloved characters like Totoro and the Cat Bus, capturing memories that will undoubtedly grace social media feeds for days to come. The iconic Yubaba mascot made a special appearance, adding an extra dose of whimsy to the proceedings.
And let’s not forget the mall-wide stamp rally – a treasure hunt of sorts, where attendees could collect six limited-edition stamps strategically placed throughout the mall. It was a challenge that led explorers through corners and corridors, all while basking in the spirit of Ghibli.
A film screening of the beloved classic “My Neighbour Totoro” provided a cozy cinematic experience, reminding everyone of the magic that Studio Ghibli films bring to our lives. This was just a taste of what’s to come, as the UNIQLO and Studio Ghibli Film Fest was unveiled, promising free screenings of six Ghibli masterpieces at Golden Village Bugis+.
Guests were gifted Ghibli-branded goodie bags, complete with a character poster and a UTme! voucher. This voucher held the power to turn shoppers into designers, offering the chance to custom print their very own LifeWear adorned with stunning Ghibli designs.
Fans of Studio Ghibli can continue to revel in the magic, as a series of special activities and the film festival will be running at Bugis+ from 18 August to 14 September 2023. It’s an entire month dedicated to celebrating the brilliance and wonder of Studio Ghibli’s creations.
The event showcased the stunning collection that marries Ghibli’s iconic art with the creativity of Thai artist Kanyada and the visionary Mr. Suzuki himself. With options for adults, kids, and even the tiniest Ghibli fans, the lineup includes shirts, sweatshirts, socks, and the oh-so-popular Round Mini Shoulder Bags.
The collection is now available on UNIQLO official website and all Singapore stores.
