In Japan and a number of other countries, UNIQLO will donate up to US$1 million to the Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU), which will be used for educational programs to teach children about the problem of ocean pollution.

In Singapore, UNIQLO will donate S$50,000 to the Garden City Fund, a registered charity and IPC established by the National Parks Board for on-going support of the Plant-A-Coral, Seed-A-Reef programme. The S$20,000 donation last year enabled the conservation of coral nubbins, or small coral fragments, which are grown in a nursery on St John’s Island. The coral nubbins are then transplanted onto Reef Enhancement Units (REUs) placed in suitable reef zones. The REUs provide refuge for marine biodiversity like nudibranch, crabs, shrimps and fishes; and improve the biodiversity of Sisters’ Islands Marine Park’s reefs.

To engage customers in environmental contribution for a better world and in partnership with Garden City Fund, UNIQLO Singapore will hold an exclusive guided tour on St John’s Island for customers as well as a Coral Lab workshop for employees to better understand how Singapore is nurturing its coral reefs in the Southern islands.

In the region, the JOIN campaigns in UNIQLO Malaysia and UNIQLO Indonesia will also raise awareness of plastic litter in the water in their customer-inclusive activities that range from cleaning the historic Melaka River, a vital trade route during the heyday of the Melakan sultanate in the 15th century, to a beach clean-up and coral transplantation at Bali’s Tulamben beach on the northeastern side of the island.

Doraemon Sustainability Mode, MENS and KID DRY-EX products will be available from UNIQLO stores throughout Singapore as well as from the online store.
