Say goodbye to going to pricey salons with this new self-styler 2-in-1 Dyson Flyaway Smoother

To achieve a salon finish, Dyson launches the new Flyaway Smoother, with professionals finish off a style by using a styling concentrator and a round brush to bury flyaways into the hair – a technique that can be challenging for self-stylers.

The Flyaway Smoother combines two modes in one attachment, so that you can style from damp hair to a polished sleek look, fast. Starting with the Smoothing mode to dry, align and smooth hair, transitioning to the Flyaway mode to hide flyways and create a shiny finish.

Manipulating Airflow

The Flyaway Smoother is the first brush attachment engineered for the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. Taking inspiration from the Dyson Airwrap multi-styler brush attachments, and harnessing the power of Dyson’s digital motor V9, high pressure airflow produces precisely angled airflow to style and dry simultaneously.

Once styled using the Smoothing mode, the styler transitions to Flyaway mode, which takes advantage of an airflow phenomenon known as the Coanda effect. This is generated when a high-speed jet of air flows across a surface and due to differences in pressure, the airflow attaches itself to the surface. This attracts the hair to the attachment, simultaneously smoothing and drying the hair, tucking away flyaways.

Engineered for all hair types

The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer is powered by the small, yet powerful Dyson digital motor V9, which spins at up to 110,000rpm – up to 6 times faster than other hair dryer motors. The size of the Dyson digital motor V9 allowed engineers to reposition the motor to the handle for optimum balance in the hand.

Intelligent Heat Control measures air temperature over 40 times a second and regulates the heat. This prevents extreme heat damage, to help protect your hair’s shine. Air MultiplierTM technology amplifies air by three times to produce a high-pressure, high-velocity jet of controlled air, for fast drying and precision styling.

Settings and Attachments

The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer has four heat settings, three airflow settings and a cold shot too. Precisely engineered magnetic attachments help achieve a range of different styles. Other attachments include:

  • Gentle air attachment – Diffuses the air for fast yet gentle styling for fine hair and sensitive scalps
  • Smoothing nozzle – Delivers a smooth, controlled airflow to help remove unwanted frizz and create a smooth, natural finish
  • Styling concentrator – Wide and thin design for precision styling so you can style one section of hair at a time without disturbing the rest

Price and Availability

The new Flyaway Smoother attachment is within the box of new machines purchased from 13 April 2023, priced at SGD699. It is fully compatible with existing models of the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer and will be available individually at a later date.
