4S Mapper (CEO Seung-Ho Lee) will be participating as an exhibitor at “AI EXPO KOREA 2023,” which will be held from Wednesday, May 10 to Friday, May 12 at COEX in Seoul, to showcase its CfSM (Car-free Street Mapping) solution and the FIXAR 007 & SHARE (Oblique Camera, PSDK 1012S V3) solution.
CfSM, designated as a venture startup innovative product on Venture Nara serviced by the Public Procurement Service in July 2022, automatically removes vehicle images from streets using deep learning and drones.
Completely removing vehicle images from streets allows access to accurate road conditions. In particular, this gives a clearer view of road potholes or cracks (e.g., size, severity, location), which are often significant causes of traffic accidents. Conditions in traffic lanes, which usually cannot be seen clearly in these images since they are covered by vehicles, can now be delivered as they are. The solution produces high-definition maps (HDMap) for autonomous vehicles precisely.
According to a 4S Mapper representative, “Identifying problems on the road or getting traffic lane information was previously limited due to inaccuracy from human error, pricey sensors, or even traffic flow. Also, existing methods required reimaging or resurveying if there was an issue with obtained data or something had to be reconfirmed. With our CfSM solution, all of these potential problems are handled with a single shooting.”
The representative further explained, ” We expect to get our hands on higher quality data faster and more easily if we can leverage a wider variety of drones and more technically advanced drones in the future. We have completed tests and demonstrations on data we have obtained in Korea and on different types of cameras and drones, including rotary-wing drones, fixed-wing drones, and VTOL. We plan to apply the results of these tests and demos in the solutions we are currently developing to expand the scope of our service.”
As a GeoAI specialist, 4S Mapper processes data based on spatial information and analyzes data based on AI. It has carried out Drone Air City projects and Regulatory Sandbox projects in 2020, 2021, and 2022 based on its spatial information-related solutions.
The solutions developed by 4S Mapper include
4S Mapper also collaborated with partners like ADTi, CHCNAV, Rainpoo, and SHARE to secure oblique cameras while carrying out its Drone Air City projects when it saw the need for special sensors (cameras) to collect various data effectively. These partnerships have allowed the company to perform modelling and precise modelling of occlusion areas that are often difficult to capture using existing satellite aerial photographs. The LOD (Level of Detail) of data automatically obtained from images taken by these oblique cameras, such as FIXAR 007 VOTL and SHARE 102S V3, is at least 3, which is higher than the LOD of data currently being serviced, which is between 2 to 3. The data created will be used as optimal data for application in smart cities, digital twins, and the metaverse.
