[Review] Staycation at Downtown East: Activities Galore at D’Resort and Wild Wild Wet!

The March school holidays are fast approaching!

It’s time for the kids to have a break from schoolbooks. Whisk them away from their handphones and computer games for some quality family bonding time.

Downtown East is a good option for a family day out or better yet, a staycation.

Away from the city traffic and high rise apartments, a staycation at Downtown East gives busy mums and dads a breather as well. You can feel the salty sea breeze from the nearby Pasir Ris beach in the air and hear the excitement from the Wild Wild Wet water theme park. It’s like going out of Singapore without travelling out of Singapore.

D’ Resort

The main accommodation at Downtown East is the 387-room D’Resort, which is a modern and comfortable resort-style hotel. The resort offers different room types, including standard rooms, family rooms, and suites that can accommodate larger groups.

All the rooms at D’Resort are well-appointed and feature modern amenities such as air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

We stayed in the Rainforest Room. Look at how spacious is it!

We were pleasantly surprised upon entering the room. The natural sunlight streaming in through the full length window was a huge plus point too.

The colourful water slides at Wild Wild Wet beckons to us from our window, tempting us to visit soon. The raised wooden platform at the window is perfect for doing some Yoga stretches… or sitting down to snack.

The room features minimalist carpentry with ample wardrobe space for all our barang-barang. There are complimentary bottles of mineral water, and sachets of coffee and tea provided.

The Rainforest room cost an average of $174 per night. Look out for any accommodation promotions and deals here.

Activities at Downtown East

There are so many activities to do. Besides going to Wild Wild Wet, there is also shopping, rock-climbing, arcade games, and cycling at the nearby Pasir Ris Beach, just to name a few.

Wild Wild Wet

This water theme park is a key attraction of Downtown East. There are rides suitable for everyone.

Daredevils can try free falling from six storeys high at the Torpedo, while sloths can relax in the Tsunami pool with gentle giant waves, and float along in the Shiok River. There are also shallow water play areas for the younger members of the family.

See all the different attractions at Wild Wild Wet here.

PS: NTUC members (Silver Card) who book a stay directly with D’Resorts are entitled to complimentary unlimited access to Wild Wild Wet, based on the room occupancy. See more here.

Note that Wild Wild Wet is closed on Tuesdays.

Rock Climbing, Skating, Arcade games and more

Shopping and Dining

Staying at D’Resort means that all the attractions and amenities in Downtown East are within easy reach. With two malls, E!Hub and E!Avenue in Downtown East, there are no lack of shopping and dining options.

Shopping options include Uniqlo, Don Don Donki, Threeppy by Daiso Japan, just to name a few.

Dining options include Haidilao Hot Pot, Don Dae Bak, Wine Connection, Watami Japanese Dining and Xi Men Jie Tastes Of Taiwan, and many others!

Cycling

As D’Resort guests, we enjoyed 24/7 access with our key card to Pasir Ris Park via the side gate behind BBQ Pit number B25 at Beach Cove block. This shortcut to the beach was really convenient, especially when we cycled late at night.

We rented our bikes at Bike Stop, located within D’Resort.

Overall, there are plenty of activities and food to enjoy at Downtown East, making it a great place to visit for families with children looking for a fun and entertaining time together.
