The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been on an epic journey since 2008, and as we enter into Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the latest Marvel movie, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, will be an essential movie to catch.
Quantumania brought back our favorite superheroes for another action-packed adventure. The film is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Kathryn Newton. It is the third installment in the Ant-Man series and is expected to be a major hit with audiences around the world, including Singapore. So far, it is doing okay and on track for its box office takings. The audience generally loves it, despite movie critics rating it lowly, comparable with the much-maligned The Eternals (2021).
The plot of “Quantumania picks up where the last film left off. The loveable everyday doofus, Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), is trying to balance his superhero duties with his responsibilities as a father to his daughter, Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson). Meanwhile, Hope Van Dyne, aka The Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), is still searching for her mother, Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), who was lost in the Quantum Realm for years.
As the movie progresses, a new villain emerges, Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), a time-traveling supervillain from the future who poses a significant threat to the world. In order to stop him, Ant-Man and The Wasp must team up with Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Janet Van Dyne, and a new character named Cassie Lang, played by Kathryn Newton, who is now a young adult.
The plot is full of twists and turns, and should be able to keep audiences on the edge of our seats. It did for me.
For the ardent Marvel fans, the most important thing you need to know and why Quantumania is a must-watch for MCU Phase 4 is the addition of Kang the Conqueror. Kang will be the equivalent of Thanos in End Game and will set the stage for the future of the MCU.
Be sure to stay till the end for both the end-credit trailers at the end of the movie for more teasers on Kang. Jonathan Majors is the standout performer in Quantumania as Kang the Conqueror, bringing a sense of menace and danger to the film.
A large part of the storyline for Quantumania revolves around Scott Lang’s newfound status as an everyday family man, balancing the act of being a good father and husband, while fulfilling his obligations as a superhero to save the world, also together with his family.
This makes it suitable for wholesome family entertainment to bring your loved ones to watch it together in the cinema for family bonding.
Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania is now showing in Singapore cinemas. To sum it up, it is a must-watch for Marvel fans because of the introduction of Kang and for everyone else, it is movie with wholesome family values that will appeal to all ages.
