The guys at LUMOS are constantly launching better and more high-end projectors. Following the launch of their LUMOS AURO and LUMOS NANO, they have added a new flagship projector – the new LUMOS ATOM Home Cinema 1080p portable projector:
As with all LUMOS products, it is tagged at an extremely accessible price so everyone can afford it.
We have been using it for close to a month now and am totally enjoying the upgraded features and the entertainment it brought into our home.
The LUMOS ATOM features 1080p native resolution, DLP with 6,000 lumens (a measure of the total quantity of visible light emitted by a source per unit of time), Dolby audio speakers, 300-inch projection, auto keystone and inbuilt apps. Most projectors of this range will easily cost above S$2,000, but the ATOM is priced under S$1,000.
Whether in terms of projection resolution, brightness or audio, these are all delivered at top-notch quality in a compact, portable device at a very reasonable price.
With a 1080p native resolution, the distinctively sharp graphics is a world of difference above the standard mini projectors, providing resolutions that are more than 6 times sharper.
Now you can project movies in the daytime as well with the new LUMOS ATOM.
LUMOS ATOM utilises DLP light technology instead of LED. DLP is a premium form of light display technology that delivers superior colours, uniformity, brightness and sharpness as compared to others. Featuring DLP with 6,000 lumens, you can even use it during the day – a feat that most other projectors cannot achieve.
We tried it and it works well in the daytime, much to our delight.
Packed with Dolby audio speakers, the sound quality of the ATOM is strong and immersive – as good as that of a portable Bluetooth speaker, which it can also double up as.
LUMOS ATOM is able to project up to 300 inches (762cm, almost an entire HDB wall), giving you the exact feeling of being in the cinema. It can go from 30 inches to 300 inches, so depending on the size of your wall.
If your wall space is not wide enough, consider lying your ATOM projector down on your bed and projecting it on your ceiling to create your own home omni-theatre effect.
Regular projectors are “dumb”. They need an external device connection like a laptop to display content. ATOM supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and comes with inbuilt apps like Netflix, YouTube and Android operating system, meaning that you can just turn on the projector and use it to watch your favorite videos, movies and shows directly. No third-party connection device is needed.
In addition, the LUMOS ATOM features processing power to surf websites smoothly like using a web browser. Simply scroll using the remote, much like how you would scroll using a mouse to navigate the web browser on your laptop or PC.
Want to play your favorite mobile games or use your smartphone on a massive screen?
With phone screen mirroring apps, you can simply cast your phone screen to game, scroll Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, on the huge projected screen, without any cables at all. Nifty!
This is one of our favourite features.
To get the clearest possible visuals, LUMOS ATOM is able to automatically optimise the best focus wherever it is placed. Auto Keystone (vertical) and digital keystone correction (up to +-15 degree vertically and horizontally) can be configured to ensure that the screen is always in sync and fully rectangular in a multitude of positions.
If you find it troublesome to bring along a remote control when using the portable projector, you can use the touchpad at the top of our LUMOS ATOM for controls such as navigating a cursor on the projected screen – pretty much like a laptop touchpad.
Compatible with tons of devices – connect the LUMOS ATOM to your set-top box to display local channels, or laptop, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, consoles, to game and watch movies.
A USB charging port is also available to charge your phone, transforming your projector into a portable charger as well.
