Little Farms opens its doors at Tanglin Mall offering you only the freshest assortment of groceries, meats, dairy, seafood and plant-based alternatives procured from ethical and traceable sources. Little Farms will now sell and serve some of Singapore’s best bread through its new partnership with Starter Lab bakery.
The new flagship outlet in Tanglin includes the grocery store with a butcher counter, deli counter, specialty cheese department, a wine shop and Starter Lab bakery, as well as Little Farms Table, the next generation of Little Farms’ casual, all-day dining concept developed in collaboration with Starter Lab, which recently became part of Little Farms.
Working with trusted independent farmers and suppliers from around the world, seasonal produce is harvested when ripe and ready to eat, then transported from farm to store in just 48 hours. Little Farms searches for the very best products around the world, carefully considering the provenance (farmers and artisanal suppliers it trusts), ingredients (no artificial flavourings and additives) and taste (delicious) to make sure each product meets its high-quality standards.
Products from local artisan suppliers include plant protein maker Angie’s Tempeh, who handmakes tempeh in small batches with organic ingredients each week; local gluten-free bread and granolas by The Whole Kitchen; Fusspot & Foodie healthy meal kits for kids; and hydroponic greens by Artisan Green, amongst other all-natural, healthy foods like cereals, nuts, dips, and kombucha.
Little Farms recently acquired Singapore’s favourite artisanal sourdough specialist Starter Lab, renowned for their slow fermentation process and delicious naturally leavened breads and buttery pastries. Using premium ingredients, these wholesome loaves are baked daily by Starter Lab for all Little Farms stores.
Little Farms Tanglin will feature a live, in-store bakery that mills small batches of grain for unique handcrafted loaves.
Diners at Little Farms Table can enjoy a menu of both indulgent and wholesome options from morning to evening, with dishes crafted from scratch using ingredients from Little Farms and Starter Lab. Hanging foliage and light-coloured tables made from recycled materials bathed in natural light provide a relaxing ambiance for up to 75 customers throughout the day.
Baristas serve up some of the best coffee (Allpress Espresso) and tea in Singapore alongside delish pastries and open-face sourdough toasts, like the Honey Roasted Seasonal Stone Fruits ($17++) and Smoked Heirloom Tomatoes ($17++).
Exclusively for dinner, fans of Starter Lab can relish in their signature “Starter” Blinis Board ($20++ for three people; $30++ for five people), griddle-fried crispy pancakes made from live starter used by the bakery and served with a medley of toppings like feta, tomatoes and “Edible Wall” greens, and handcrafted Sourdough Flatbreads (from $20++), in a variety of flavours like tomato, pepperoni, scamoza and pecorino.
Little Farms Table also offer a range of delicious wines and handcrafted cocktails.
Wholesome salads exclusive to the Tanglin Mall outlet like the Spice-charred Cauliflower ($21++) and Avo, Quinoa & Feta Bowl ($22++) provide the ultimate nourishment.
Fresh from the in-store butchery are meats showcased in dishes like Roast “Mount Barker” Chicken Breast ($26++) with root veggies, pearl barley risotto, feta and kale, and Braised Ox Cheek Pappardelle ($28++), featuring locally grown mushrooms from social enterprise urban farmers Mushroom Buddies.
Kids are well catered to with a special child-friendly menu, and there are plenty of vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options.
Inspired by bustling marketplaces in Australia, the warm, inviting space features a wooden “barn roof” and exposed concrete floors, with the live bakery, deli and butcher counters displayed prominently at the front, and the fresh produce further within.
Little Farms’ Director of Butchery, Angharad Onions who hails from England’s award-winning butcher shop, HG Walter, shares wisdom on the best cuts of meat and suggested cooking methods, how the animals were raised, and new ways to spice up family favourites. You can browse the deli counter for recommendations on the best charcuterie, olives and other prepared foods to complement meals.
The store also features an “edible wall” by Grobrix, a Singapore-based vertical farming solution with a mission to encourage, empower, enthuse and educate urban communities to grow their own food and live healthier, more sustainable and self-sufficient lives. While the edible wall adds a lush aesthetic to the space, it more importantly provides Little Farms Table with a variety of vegetables and herbs like basil, kale, rosemary and oregano, all of which will be freshly harvested and incorporated into the menu. You can also approach any of the friendly staff to learn more about the in-store farming initiative.
The selection of natural products extends to a small range of personal care and cleaning items, including the revolutionary non-toxic, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and sustainable detergent by Aquama. A new feature only available in the Tanglin Mall store, you can try, buy and refill Aquama’s family-friendly, hypoallergenic cleaning solution made using only water, salt and electricity.
Little Farms’ new flagship store is located at 02-136/138, Tanglin Mall, 163 Tanglin Rd, Singapore 247933.
