Toyota RAV4 Key Features – self-charging hybrid combining both superior driving performance and fuel efficiency

Borneo Motors launches the new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid in Singapore, building on Toyota’s goal of achieving a carbon-neutral society and is part of the brand’s commitment to providing a variety of solutions and options to drivers around the world.

Toyota has announced that it will invest approximately $70 billion globally in electrified vehicles.

Engineered to tackle urban and outdoor adventures, the new RAV4 is built on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA-K) platform. With a boldly chiselled design, this latest RAV4 amplifies the desirable crossover traits that made the first RAV4 an instant success a quarter-century ago.

Self-charging hybrid

With electric motors mated to the efficient Dynamic Force Engine, you can experience seamless acceleration and an unparalleled driving performance with the 2.5-litre Dynamic Force Hybrid Powertrain.

Performance is rated at 0-100km/h in 8.1 seconds, while fuel consumption clocks in at 4.7 litres per 100km, making the RAV4 Hybrid one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles amongst its peers.

Beyond a smoother ride, you will enjoy the superior quietness that is synonymous with all Toyota hybrids.

Stylish and Functional

The new RAV4 is luxuriously spacious, featuring a 542 litres of boot space, while rear seat passengers will appreciate the comfortable and spacious cabin.

On the exterior, the RAV4’s chiselled appearance conveys athleticism and refinement, with a strong nose leading into a dynamic profile with robust shoulders and newly designed 18-inch aluminium rims.

The high-strength unibody chassis is 57 percent more rigid than the previous generation and comes with refreshed high-grade LED headlamps with DRL – both for style and for capability improvement.

On-the-go Connectivity

The new Toyota RAV4 integrates seamless connectivity with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, providing convenient access to directions, calls, messages, and music on the 9-inch touch screen multimedia system for even more enjoyable, hassle-free drives.

This intelligent setup blends perfectly with a fully digital instrument panel which befits the demands of contemporary urban commuting.

Advanced Safety Features

The new RAV4 Harrier features the Toyota Safety Sense package, a sophisticated suite of advanced safety fixtures that offer a greater peace of mind while driving. This includes integrated active and cutting-edge safety systems that help drivers avoid a wide range of common accident risks through driver information, early warnings and, when necessary, automatic braking and steering intervention.

1. Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection

The Pre-Collision System (PCS) employs both a millimetre wave radar sensor and a camera sensor for highly accurate detection of objects such as other vehicles or pedestrians in front of the vehicle.

2. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)

The innovative Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) allows the convenience of setting a vehicle cruise speed across a wide range.

In addition to maintaining a set cruise speed determined by the driver, the system also has a vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode that utilizes a millimetre wave radar sensor, camera sensor, steering sensor, and a yaw rate sensor to maintain a suitable distance from the preceding vehicle.

With the addition of the camera sensor to the system, it can detect the vehicle size of the preceding vehicle as well as line recognition painted onto the road. This helps to not only ensure enhanced system accuracy, but also aids with path detection, preceding vehicle recognition and the detection of a vehicle should it cut into the lane between the vehicle and the preceding vehicle it was following.

In heavy traffic, it maintains a pre-set following distance, slowing when it shortens and accelerating back to original cruising speed when the road clears.

3. Lane Departure Alert (LDA)

The Lane Departure Alert (LDA) system detects white or yellow-coloured painted lane markings while simultaneously determining the position of the vehicle within the lane using a camera sensor.

The system then provides the driver with audible and visual warnings (vehicle positioning warning image shown in the MID).

The system also provides small corrective steering inputs to help keep the vehicle in its lane.

4. Automatic High-Beam (AHB)

The automatic high beam driver support system is designed to help drivers see more of what is ahead at night-time without dazzling other drivers.

When enabled, AHB uses an in-vehicle camera to help detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles, then automatically switches between high and low beams as appropriate to provide the most light possible and enhance forward visibility. By using high beams more frequently, the system may allow earlier detection of pedestrians and obstacles.
