[Review] 1-for-1 Pasta and New Brunch Menu at IG-Worthy Café near Kallang MRT- Knock Knock Café

A few minutes’ walk from Kallang MRT, Knock Knock Café serves up east-west fusion burgers, pasta, and with its recent revamp, a new line-up of brunch selections.

Your food photos will POP in this colourful and quirky café made for social media.

Look out for the carnival carousel, floor-to-ceiling pillar of doughnuts and even a fully functional gachapon machine!

For brunch, expect breakfast classics like grilled cheese sandwiches and eggs benedict.

Besides brunch items, there is an array of pasta and burger options such as the new Iberico Char Siew Burger.

Brunch Menu (*only on weekends and public holidays from 10 am – 5 pm)

Let’s start with my personal favourite, the Grilled Triple Cheese Ham Sandwich ($15). The cheese pull from this was impeccable and showcased the generous amount of cheese- cheddar, parmesan and mozzarella packed into the sandwich.

The sourdough bread was crisped up with butter, making it oh-so fragrant and a great complement for the melty cheese and savoury honey ham.

I wolfed this down (despite having low lactose tolerance). I highly recommend trying this!

No cafe brunch menu is complete without eggs benedict. Knock Knock Café calls its version the Millionaire Bacon Eggs Benedict ($14).

Their house-made hollandaise sauce, creamy and tangy, hits the jackpot for me! My only gripe is that I would have preferred more of it- I personally prefer my eggs benedict drenched in sauce.

I topped up for smoked salmon as an add-on. There’s just something about the the saltish soft salmon with the smooth, silky egg yolk and tangy hollandaise sauce.

Besides smoked salmon, other add-ons available with a top-up are pork sausage, honey glazed ham, scrambled/ sunny-side up eggs, portobello mushroom, roasted potatoes, bacon, brioche bun and vanilla ice-cream.

Regular Menu

The Iberico Char Siew Burger ($23) was delightful. With the perfect ratio of fats to meat, the well-marinated char siew was tender, juicy, and a perfect blend of sweet and salty. It comes with a generous side serving of fries.

Next up we have the exquisite-looking “Ga-Na-Chye” Chilled Capellini with Smoked Duck ($16). Served cold, capellini, which is a very thin variety of Italian pasta, is lightly salted with “Ga-Na-Chye” (traditional Chinese preserved olives) and topped with tobiko.

The salty “Ga-Na-Chye” could be an acquired taste for some, but I think it complements the smoked duck well here.

Drinks and Desserts

We got the Iced Chocolate ($6.50) and Iced Lavander Latte ($6.50). Both are topped with an adorable bear! The bear is made of ice, so quickly snap some pics for the ‘gram before it melts!

The Iced chocolate was rich and more milky than chocolatey. As for the lavender latte, my dining companion shared that it tasted much like normal coffee. So the lavender is probably more for the colour?

The Beary cute ice cream in a glass ($8) was a delight as well.

The café serves ice cream from Udder’s. Choose from various flavours like Cookies & Cream, Chendol, Salted Caramel, Dark Chocolate and Coconut Sorbet. Toppings include marshmallows, rainbow sprinkles, cookies, M&M’s chocolate candies and many more. Both flavours and toppings are available on a rotational basis.

verdict

Overall, the dishes were all flavourful and wholesome. The fusion dishes were unique and innovative, especially the “Ga-Na-Chye” pasta.

The bear-themed ice creams and drinks make for a cute treat and would delight the young and young-at-heart alike.
