Voted on TripAdvisor as one of the best steakhouses in Singapore, Opus Bar & Grill celebrates its 7th Anniversary with a refreshed menu. The restaurant is located in voco Orchard Singapore, which was rebranded from the Hilton Singapore in January 2022.
The celebration is not only for meat lovers. Besides Opus’ famed steaks, there are also sustainably-sourced seafood and vegetarian options such as the Impossible Beef Skewers and Impossible Chicken Burger made with Opus’ signature open-fire grilling techniques.
Here is a sampling of what you can expect:
We started off our dinner with cocktails. Rosella ($20), a sweet-but-not-too-sweet flower syrup drink topped up with Prosecco and the locally-inspired Nutmeg Old Fashioned ($20), a Wild Turkey Bourbon based drink with a sprinkling of nutmeg- a nod back to the history of Orchard Road, where plantations of various kinds of crops such as nutmeg once thrived.
Service was excellent with attentive and friendly staff.
This bread looks simple, yet is simply so good! With drizzles of burnt cheese on its exterior and fluffy soft with bits of quality cheese embedded within, this nondescript-looking loaf is wonderful on its own, but even better with the accompanying butter.
A vegetarian-friendly starter, this salad is a refreshing mix of red and yellow watermelons cubes, with crumbly feta cubes tossed in for savory notes.
Light on the palette, we recommend this cheery-colored salad to balance out the heaviness of the grilled meats.
A new item in Opus’ menu, the Wagyu Short Rib Croquettes is a beef lover’s delight. No excess oil at all. Crisp golden brown on the outside and warm, succulent, melt-in-the-mouth beef strands inside. The deep earthy aroma of beef assails once you plunge in with your fork.
Fresh cold creamy oysters, dash of vinegar, vibrant citrus pearls. A slurp-worthy indulgence.
Plump, meaty scallops, seared to a beautiful brown crisp outside yet not overcooked to become rubbery.
For those looking for a lighter but still filling main course, this Barramundi dish is a good option. Less heavy compared to the red meats, the fish is sufficiently tender and clean-tasting. The magic lies in its green broth which is subtly saltish, peppery and slightly tangy.
Each premium steak is handpicked and dry-aged in a specially commissioned Himalayan salt tile cabinet to develop an intense taste.
Cooked over an open-flame grill using charcoals and sustainable Jarrah wood, these steaks are grilled in utmost perfection. What you get are masterfully charred meats with smoky, caramelised flavours.
Grilled to perfection, we love the light char outside, with the meat still tender and moist on the inside.
And if you still have space for dessert…
