Singapore’s newest attraction and highest open-air panoramic ride, SkyHelix Sentosa, is now open and we went to experience the ride.
The SkyHelix takes over the spot where the Tiger Sky Tower uses to sit. While the Sky Tower is more an observatory tower, the SkyHelix has an open concept, leaving your feet dangling in the air as you rise above the ground, making it much more thrilling.
On the 12-minute ride, you will be seated on an open-air gondola that gently rotates 35 metres above ground
along a vertical helix-like structure. The SkyHelix is more thrilling than a bubble lift or or a glass elevator for sure, but it is definitely not in the rollercoaster category of thrilling. This makes it ideal for a family of all ages to enjoy the ride together, including the little ones and the timid ones.
Look at how stiff my son Asher was throughout the ride – he could barely move due to fright. Even so, he got off okay without any tears or fuss:
At the peak, you get to enjoy an unparalleled 360° sight of Sentosa and the developing Greater Southern Waterfront while dangling your feet in the air with a cool drink in hand.
The ride’s apex is 79 metres above sea level, making it one of the highest vantage points on Sentosa.
Tickets are reasonably priced at $18 for adults and $15 for children between the ages of four and 12. Each ticket will be bundled with a choice of one standard non-alcoholic beverage or an exclusive SkyHelix Sentosa
souvenir.
Visitors can grab a bite and drinks at the open-air snack bar before boarding and enjoy them on the ride. The bar features a reasonably wide selection of food options and beverages that range from juices and slushies, to cut fruits, soft serves, and pastries.
For those who want to get a little more tipsy, ready-to-drink cocktails ($16 each) created by the team at Dusk Restaurant & Bar located at Mount Faber Peak are available too. You can select and enjoy the Helix Sky Party, a refreshing tropical concoction or indulge in a rich, creamy Helix Xpresso Martini, blending caffeine and alcohol. The Helix Singapore Sling, an iconic Singaporean classic familiar to many, is available too.
As an opening promotion, visitors can enjoy a Pastry Combo ($8) that comprises of 1 savoury pastry and one refreshing Slushie in Lemonade or Sjora Mango Peach flavour for a limited time. You can also top up an additional $1.50 for a vanilla soft serve with any purchase of pastry.
Fly high and enjoy the scenic views on two of Mount Faber Leisure Group’s panoramic attractions – the
new SkyHelix Sentosa and the iconic Singapore Cable Car. The bundle can be redeemed by 31 December 2021 using the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers and utilised by 31 March 2022.
Price: $40 Adult | $25 Child
