Proponents of clean beauty now have another brand to choose from!
Citrea, a made-in-Japan skincare brand just launched in Singapore in September 2021.
Citrea focuses on sustainability and organic elements, using up to 99.9% of natural ingredients.
The star ingredient in Citrea’s products is Lemon Myrtle, a native Australian super herb known for its ‘anti-bacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory’ properties as well as its refreshing soothing lemony scent.
The Citrea product range consists of Moisture Mist, Face Soap, Hand Spray, and Hand Cream.
We are off to a good start here. The gold leaf print on the packaging reminds me of kintsugi– the centuries-old Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with gold lacquer, a philosophy of embracing and seeing the unique beauty in the flawed or imperfect. Exactly the mindset we all need for more self-love.
With COVID-19 becoming endemic, the hand sanitizer is now a daily essential. Smelling of Citrea’s signature lemon myrtle, using this hand sanitiser spray adds a bit of zen to an otherwise mundane and clinical activity.
This was the star product for me. If there is only one product you get from the series, get this.
Gently moisturizing and refreshingly lemony (not overpowering at all), the moisture mist is especially good for morning use as it perks you up gently. The subtle lemon scent lingers faintly on your skin, reminding you to keep calm before diving into a hectic day.
I spritz it on one palm, then cup both palms together to inhale the soothing lemony scent before patting it gently onto my face.
The Citrea Face Soap foams easily into a rich white lather. After using it my face felt too squeaky-clean, a sign of it being a tad too drying for my skin, which is already dry in the first place. But if you don’t have dry skin to begin with, this soap might work for you!
The soap’s rich creamy foam works great as a luxurious body soap, making shower time more indulgent.
This hand cream is moisturizing and requires a few good rubs before it sinks into the skin. I love using this before bedtime as part of a relaxing wind-down ritual.
