[NSFW: Adult toy review] Clitoral Stimulation Massager for Female Sexual Wellness

The desire for sexual pleasure is just a very natural part of being human yet it can be a hush-hush and taboo topic, especially female sexual desire.

Here, in a valiant effort to normalize the seeking of female sexual pleasure, I, a biological female of conservative deposition by most assessments, shall offer a first-hand review of a sex toy designed to stimulate oral sex- The Poet, by the Smile Makers

Based on data received from Smile Makers’ online quiz, completed by over 780,000 respondents around the globe, 60% of vulva owners prefer clitoral stimulation. It is precisely this highly sensitive part of the vulva that The Poet aims to pleasure with pulsating airwaves.

First impressions

When I first laid eyes on The Poet, my first thought was: Wow this looks really classy. Brownie points for its pleasing magenta packaging, which heightened my curiosity and expectations of the pleasure-giving device within.

Tah-dah. Here it is. A rosebud-shaped toy.

As this is my first foray into the world of sex toys, I would feel intimidated and embarrassed by a phallic-shaped device, so this minimalist-looking rosebud was a welcomed design.

The Poet would not look out of place on a dresser or bedside table. To unsuspecting eyes, it could pass off as a random decorative knick-knack or perhaps even some sort of beauty device?

How it felt

Pretty damn good.

Using The Poet is pretty simple— Apply a bit of water-based lube, let the rosebud suction mouth cup over your clitoris and press the power button. Hold it still as it gives out pulsating airwaves stimulating an agile and diligent probing tongue at your most sensitive part. I had to move it away when it got too intense at one point. Try and experiment, at your own pace. That’s the fun in self-pleasuring, isn’t it.

A video is worth more than a thousand words. Check out this tutorial video of how to use The Poet.

Once turned on, it made a noticeable buzzing sound, but once it latches on to your lady bit, the volume will decrease to a much softer buzz which I found acceptable. Ideally, it should be completely silent, but rest assured that the buzz level is such that it doesn’t distract from the task at hand, and nobody outside your door would hear it.

You can pick between five pulsation modes- Quiver, Climax, Spiral, Heartbeat, and Cha-cha-cha. Try it to know it =p.

The whole device is waterproof and wrapped in smooth and soft body-safe silicone. With a clean and smooth surface area, it is easy as 123 to clean. I just wash it with a little soap under running water.

As beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, so does the clitoris. The Poet comes with three interchangeable mouths of different sizes- just twist them on and off. Do some exploring and select the one which feels the best on you.

This USB-rechargeable toy comes with a small matching magenta statin pouch—making it easy for you to bring it along for holiday/ staycations or to stash it discreetly in your bedside drawer.

Worth getting?

As a first-time user of a sex toy, I would say that The Poet provides an easy and non-intimidating initiation into the world of self-pleasure with toys. It delivers what it purports to do, which is to deliver stimulation to the sensitive clitoral glans. And it does so via an aesthetically pleasing, ergonomic, and discreet device.

Whether you’re new or experienced with adult toys, if clitoral stimulation is what you want to experience, then yep, The Poet is worth a try.

If you are racking your brains looking to find a gift for a lady who already has everything, The Poet can be a throbbingly fantastic gift option.

The Poet launched globally on Smile Makers’ website and with local retailers in Singapore for SGD 169. You can find it at Watsons, Guardian, Motherswork, ISETAN Scotts.

Besides lust, how about indulging in some gluttony too?
