2020 isn’t ending well for 31-year-old Joshua Ang and Shannon Low, with a messy separation made even more dramatic by accusations of abuse and libel hurled at each other.
In the middle was their 2-year-old toddler, Jed, who remained in Low’s custody.
According to an Instagram post on ex-actor Joshua Ang’s now-private account, he and ex-flight attendant Shannon Low were initiating a divorce, with Ang expressing happiness over this event. The post went up on December 14, with Ang showing a photo of him holding up a sonogram image of his son with the glittery font “Happy divorce.”
While the original Instagram post can’t be seen anymore, the Facebook post of the separation was still present as of publishing.
He said that this event warranted a celebration with cake and champagne. In later reports, he said that the reason for their divorce was allegedly problems with money.
Low had removed all the photos of her ex-husband from her Instagram account. The two were married for two years.
On the same day that Ang turned his Instagram account private, Low posted a series of Instagram stories that allege various concerning details of their marriage and his treatment of their son.
According to her Instagram stories, Ang had allegedly abused her through hitting and destroying various objects in their home. Low also accused Ang of driving recklessly, and that he told her to take herself and their son out of the car after she called him out for his driving.
Low also alleged that Ang allowed their home utilities to be cut off. She said that Ang had failed to provide her with their son’s allowance, and that she was left to pay for when the family went out.
Other allegations included Ang holding a knife and a drill while the two were arguing.
Unrelated to their marriage, Low also went so far as to reveal some details about how Ang allegedly acted towards his neighbors. She said that he had reportedly cut a neighbor’s bike brakes. He also supposedly tried to stop a pregnant woman from leaving her house using super glue on the gate, along with throwing neighbors’ shoes.
A report by The Straits Times also mentioned that Low accused Ang of allegedly having a new girlfriend. She told the website that she came out with her allegations because, “it is my duty to stand up for my son and myself.”
In response to the accusations, Ang had posted on this social media accounts that he was not going to respond to her on social media and that he would be letting his legal counsel the matter. He said that he was allegedly unable to see his son for almost 200 days.
Ang also denied the allegations to The Straits Times, and said that he was single.
He did mention, though, that she had allegedly filed for a Personal Protection Order in June, but that it was reportedly turned down this October.
Before the reports of their divorce broke this year, the ex-couple had related their harrowing experience with their confinement nanny, who caused their son to have aspiration pneumonia.
The couple had reportedly agreed to finalize their divorce in March 2021.
