Planning a China Trip? Here’s How to Prepare

It has been a trying year. Never has there been such a wide-sweeping struggle that touched all countries and all people with such equality. But many of us are ready to take steps back towards normal, or rather, in the direction of the new normal. For some people this means returning to work, for others, it means visiting family — some people have not been able to return to their homes and are ready to do so now.

Whatever your reasons for needing to travel to China, you are likely wondering what you need to know and do to ensure your trip goes smoothly and is as safe as possible. Likely your primary concern is the coronavirus, as China was hit particularly hard by the pandemic that was swept across the world. Of course, there is nothing that will guarantee your health and safety 100%, but there are things you can do to ensure that you are mitigating as much risk as possible.

Research Travel Restrictions

You’re also going to want to look into the specific travel advisories put in place by the country you are traveling out of. You might be surprised to find that the flight you want is not available. More than that, you’re going to want to look up which countries China is allowing entry from and what the self-isolation restrictions are.

Consider Private Flights

The private flight industry has exploded since the coronavirus hit and many are predicting that this change in the air travel industry will likely be a permanent one. If you are at high risk of serious repercussions for contracting COVID-19 or will be interacting with someone at high risk, you might want to consider flying private. Flying in a private jet to China will minimise your chance of exposure to the virus. You can avoid contact with people at the airport as you do not need to go through public security screening or wait in the terminal with countless strangers. You will be in contact with only your traveling companions, two pilots, and potentially one flight attendant on the plane.

Exercise Caution… at All Times!

Wherever you are traveling and however you get there, you need to exercise educated caution. Maintain a safe social distance at all times, this means standing or sitting six feet (or two meters) away from other people. The most important part of minimising contact with coronavirus is regular and proper handwashing. Make sure to wash your hands consistently throughout the day for at least twenty seconds with soap and water. Alternatively, you can use a hand sanitiser made of at least 60% alcohol. Of course, be sure to wear a mask.

No safety precaution offers a 100% guarantee of protection from coronavirus. Always do your research and make sure that you stay up to date on the latest travel advisories. This being said, using the above tips, you can better prepare yourself for a trip to China and will be able to reduce the chances of encountering the virus.
