Apple’s floating store at Marina Bay Sands Looks like a Glowing Sphere

In a climate where businesses are shuttering no thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apple is pushing through with opening a unique new store – a first in the world, in fact! – that floats on water. The store will be located near Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands will officially be known as Apple Marina Bay Sands.

During the day, the new store looks like a futuristic hub. And at night, it transforms into a glorious sight with Singapore’s skyline lit up in all of its glory behind it. Although not a lot of details have been released about how it will look inside, 9to5 has shared some marketing images of the store. They also called it ‘the lantern by the bay’.

The images state: “During the day, the store’s glass panels reflect the towering skyline of the Downtown Core and motion of the rippling water. At night, the sphere glows with a gentle warmth, evoking the design of traditional lanterns carried during Singapore’s Mid-Autumn Festival. The pavilion dome narrows to an oculus, allowing unobstructed light to flood in. A birds-eye view of the store resembles a glass iris peering into the sky.”

They also say that the store will “include the same measures found at Singapore’s other Apple Stores” in terms of the ongoing Covid-19 health and safety efforts. This includes the wearing of face masks, limited occupancy, and other sanitisation guidelines.

MacRumors has also shared a fun teaser video about the store on Twitter:

Apple Marina Bay Sands will be the third Apple store in Singapore following Orchard Road and Apple Jewel Changi Airport.
