Fossil launches its latest solar powered innovation – the limited-edition Solar Watch.
The Fossil Solar Watch uses the outer ring of the watch case to capture light and convert it to energy using a solar cell beneath the dial. It then stores that energy in a rechargeable battery that powers the watch.
Once fully charged, the Solar Watch is expected to run for around 4 months before requiring a recharge. The watch is available in 36mm and 42mm sizes, each with a partially bio-based plastic case made from environmentally friendly castor oil.
In addition to opting for a more sustainable, solar-powered movement, the Solar Watch comes equipped with five pull-through straps, which are made with yarn spun from approximately 16 plastic bottles (450ml). That’s 16 fewer bottles in a landfill, ocean or national park, and one step closer to a greener future.
20 pieces will be available in Singapore retailing at SGD 249 a piece at Fossil’s Shopify e-store. In partnership with EcoMatcher a tree will be planted in honour of each person who purchases a Solar Watch. Wearers can also locate their tree, name it and track its CO2 performance.
The Fossil Solar Watch is a part of Fossil’s commitment to making a positive social and environmental impact by 2025. Visit here to learn more about Fossil’s commitment to sustainability.
